    Gasket woes... needing some advice.

Good idea, I already have a heat gun. I'll give the permatex a try since I found it and got a can of it already. Backup will be the heat gun if it doesn't work. I'll be sure to wait overnight before using it though just in case there are some residual fumes. I remember reading in The Horse a...

    Gasket woes... needing some advice.

I'll check my local parts store and see about that permatex spray. These things are bad, bad. I may go the homemade route. No pilot lights in my garage so I should be o.k. I have a big fire extinguisher just in case. Thanks for the info.

    motorcycle hand wind deflectors

Menards sells battery powered (9v) heated snowmobile gloves for about $20. Not sure on the quality, but they seemed warm even without the battery. I'm sure for occasional use they would be great.

    Gasket woes... needing some advice.

:bang head: So I'm redoing the starter clutch, and got to the part where I need to remove the old gaskets. The old gaskets have apparently been stuck on with satan's own nut sweat or something. I've messed with gaskets before but nothing stuck like this. They are so bonded with the...

HOW TO: Remove/Inspect/Replace your Starter Clutch

VmaxingPauly, that's exactly what mine did, it gets worse as it gets colder. No box of rocks, just spinning starter. I think if not fixed you will eventually get the box of rocks syndrome, but as it is now, you've caught it early. Your starter should be A-OK, just the damn pesky bolts on the...

For anyone curious about part numbers, the middle gear cover gasket is part number 3JP-15461-01-00. The stator cover gasket is part number 3JP-15451-01-00.

    Starter clutch permanent repair

So my bike is doing something strange. The starter spins and sometime doesn't engage. Is this the starter clutch?

Anyone used POR-15 motorcycle tank repair kits?

I've not used the whole repair kit, but I have used por-15 on a new and an old tank with pinholes. I didn't have to use the fiberglass that came with it, but it sealed that tank up just great. It works wonderfully. Just make sure you don't get it on your paint, if you want to keep said paint...

What did you do to your Vmax today? Part 2

Well, yesterday I hooked the battery to the battery tender (just got it) and charged the battery up. I got the bike out of my basement. I store it there in the winter, it's got a walk out door thing, so it's not too bad. Today, I drained the old gas, and was pleasantly surprised how easy that...

    Sharky's Max project....

This is looking amazing. I have made a couple choppers and I can appreciate the work you are putting into this. It's looking great. The tough part about making a non-Harley based chopper or custom bike is, basically everything has to be made or adapted to fit. I have a buddy who made a...

    Project: Tour-Max

I know this is neither here nor there but I would get her her own bike :) My wife actually rode before I met her. She had grown up on bikes. Anyway, I personally hate having someone on the back. It just feels too cramped. Not to mention, if you get one that rides, they have a tendency to...
