    Rubber vs Steel valve stems?

Okaaaay. Thanks guys, all of your comments just kinda verified what I had thought. Rubber stems = caca. I figured that most tire shops sortof automatically install the rubber ones because ... I mean hey ... they ALREADY get nearly $50 bux to mount/balance/new stem, so they gotta use the...

    Rubber vs Steel valve stems?

See that's just it. I live in the southwestern desert and our UV here is very strong, our air is cleaner so the sunlight is just so intense. The rubber ones tend to sortof crack a little bit right around the base of the stem where it is flush with the rim. Every time you handle/fondle the...

    Rubber vs Steel valve stems?

Um .. no. You only have a choice if it's tubeless. With a tube you get whatever it has on it, no choice as far as I know. In any case my wheels are all tubeless. I am certain of this (as they all say "tubeless" right on the wheel! ... So we at least know I can read, right? Haahaahah!)

    Rubber vs Steel valve stems?

Seems I see a lot of both. I know the Stainless Steel ones are more costly. When I used to off-road race we ALWAYS used rubber ones so that they'd flex instead of sheer off if you clipped a rock or something. But we are talking about streetbikes here. My wife just refinished her 1982...

I found my thrill, now searching for the right support forum.

Thanks guys. I am thinking that I kinda prefer the idea of my own forum though. I need to gather up the people that are into this stuff that ride all brands and types. Most of all, I need people looking to build some of these types so that we may share ideas. "Pre-fabbed" bikes like the Z-rex...

I found my thrill, now searching for the right support forum.

Hmm .. my own forum. Hadn't considered that. I've been a forum co-founder before and it was a lot of work at first, but it settled down to an easier pace fairly soon. Only problem was the main founder (and owner( was a bit bipolar and had a tendency to shut it down from time to time. He'd...

    Early AMA Production Superbikes.

Some of the early Kwackers ... Note the missing side cover and the small cover that is protecting the magneto. The charging systems were totally removed from these engines. Mainly to provide better lean angle. If you'll notice on just about any of these bikes from this time you'll see...

    Early AMA Production Superbikes.

A passion of mine. I just posted a thread about finding early superbike forums, and realized that I have a rather large pile of pretty good pics from that era. Thought I'd share some with the membership here ... :biglaugh: 1977 to about 1983 is my favorite era for Superbike Racing bikes. It...

I found my thrill, now searching for the right support forum.

Hey folks. Well, I think I may have found my *type* of bike design that suits me and my experiences. Now I'm having a heck of a time finding others that share this interest.... I'm a small fry, 5'6"/150lbs. 51 years old and have a background in Grand National/flat track and TT as well as...

How light are the *lightest* street legal Vmax's coming in?

Yup .. cool. This all sounds about like what I usually like to do to what I ride. So what kind of weight reduction does this yield? And I was asked "why lighter?" in another post up there ... Why not? I've usually found it a better way to have a faster/funner bike. I'm small but not...

How light are the *lightest* street legal Vmax's coming in?

Thanks guys. I figured there was much that coul be done. I only said "no chain drive" because I'd read that it cost somewhere around $4k. That's fine, but now we're gwetting into seious budget issues. $4k for ONE mod. Hmm. So anyhow, that's why I said "no chains". And thanks for the help on...

How light are the *lightest* street legal Vmax's coming in?

Gotta be legal. And please, nothing in the $1B range, y'know .. keep it reasonable in cost. No titanium spokes on chaindrive converted /no front brakes drag bikes here. I'm just curious as to how light one of these can be made? Some parameters to stay inside of are: *** Single seat = YES...

    I'm 5'6"/buck-fifty .. too small for a Vmax?

That's cool, I am already a pretty big Racetech fan, so it sorta goes without saying I'll be investigating something other than $100 shocks. :) Same with seats, you get what you pay for. Thanks for looking out for my best interests folks! Still looking for a worthy victim bike. Missi (my...
