    Finally sorted it ,disconnected the ignition vac switch and blanked the manifold off now perfect idle and perfect transition to on and off the throttle .What I think was the problem was too much advance at idle and with open v boost uneven pulses giving the weird Jerky uneven overun

    Looking at the settings I would say califonia settings were closest for the jap vmax ,I may try setting it up with an 1100rpm idle speed rather the lumpy 950 rpm mine has at the moment.

    Problem is the jap speedo has part of the restrictor system built in to it .It would mean changing the cdi and altering the wiring to suit to get round it which is a real pain

    Good thinking that man ,that may be the issue. As a quick fix I have managed to reposition the needle so it is further up the dial.As long as when I pass speed cameras I am going slower than indicated I am happy.

    We have a similar problem over in the UK, scum on stolen bikes in packs bike jacking other bikers machines.They had to change the laws re buying battery acid as they were throwing it in people's faces to rob them. Our police are useless at stopping them and get prosecuted if they knock one...

    The japanese clock has 4 extra wires ,3 in a block and a blue red in a bullet connector that runs to a circuit board that is controlled by a disk on the speedo needle .

    if your after hassle free performance its the busa ,bomb proof .the zx12s ride better as a sports bike but occasionally the crank spits out its dummy & wrecks the cases.the zrx12 is quick but a bit like a vmax in its dynamics without the carisma.the bandit is just dull but fit the gsxr1100 cams...

    ticking/tapping at idle

    could be a number of things,carbs out of balance,slight blockage of idle jets.best thing is to check oil levels etc,if there is no local vmax gurus ,record the noise on a decent camcorder ,post on you tube etc & post a link.someone will diagnose & probable ease any fears you have.
