    Vacuum Leak?

In that case, I'll prob buy new boots. Mine are the stock ones (almost 20 years old). I see a bunch on eBay for $20, but others for $80. I can't tell the difference.....

    Vacuum Leak?

Thanks for the advice. maybe I should see if i can find the leak first. The propane from the unlit torch will get sucked in via the leak if its there and rev the engine (is that the idea)?

    Vacuum Leak?

Hi all, My bike has been running rough no matter what I do. When I try to tune the carbs, even with the restrictors, the indicators are really bouncy. Guy at a local shop listened to it and is pretty sure theres a vacuum leak. Thought I'd start by replacing the carb boots. Can anyone...

    Seated Carbs?

Hello, I'm having trouble getting a good reading on my carb sync tool. Someone suggested that if the carbs weren't seated, they would give me bouncy reading. I took a picture or each carb and was hoping if someone with a better eye than me could tell me if they are seated correctly. Thanks...

    carb tuning

Thanks a bunch! I'll check that out this afternoon. Also, I noticed in other videos that people had taped up where they put the restricters in with electrical tape. I'll do that to mine and see if that makes a difference.

    carb tuning

Thanks for the info. How would I know if they are seated? That could be the issue. Pardon my ignorance, all my engine experience is on a cummins truck engine. No carbs there lol

    carb tuning

I believe they are..... The instructions said cut the hoses approx 10 CM back from the engine and cut the clear plastic restrictor tube into roughly 4 equal pieces and insert into the cut hose. It came with 5mm & 6mm brass fittings, but I don't see how they hook up to the bike. I just slid the...

    carb tuning

I did add the restrictors. I just figured they would b basically steady. Don't know if the bounce i was getting was normal. The idea sounds right to me, but I don't have the best point of reference.

    carb tuning

Hello all, Just got my carb tuning tool in the mail and hooked it up. The reading is bouncier than i expected, but I think I got them pretty close. I attached a video. Do you guys think it looks about right? I also turned up the idle screw so it was idling right at 1000 after the video...

I'd love one if they are still available. Will you ship to California? I'll gladly pre-pay.

    Engine Guards

Hey Vmaxers, I'm looking for some engine guards that can double as highway pegs. I've seen a bunch of the chrome ones but I want some that are black. Anyone know where I can find some? Thanks b

    1998 Vmax with Low Miles

Thx! I'll prob do all the fluids next weekend. They look pretty good, but I plan on keeping this bike for a long time and I'd rather start fresh. The back tire has about 95% tread, but was put on in 08. It seams fine, (garaged its whole life) but I'll prob take it to the shop and have them check...
