Float height is critical to good performing carbs. As Sean pointed out accuracy is important. The only way to know is to wet check them.

Even though the rim is larger the overall size is smaller due to the much smaller sidewalls of a radial tire. So yes higher rpm and …..better acceleration. My opinion, not many of us play around at 140 very long but we do whack it as often as we can so for me acceleration trumps top speed.

I ran metzler me 888 for many years. Plenty of grip and tire life. If I had not converted to radials I'd sill be running them.

In first gear without a slipper clutch it’s possible your rear tire is locking up a bit and causing the shudder and shimmy.

I converted to the sumitomo 6 pots and can not recommend it enough. It doesn’t stop like my gsxr but it’s a massive improvement over the stock setup.
