Ignitech installed and did Coil On Plug conversion.

Wandering back by to let everyone know that the motor is still in one piece. The C.O.P. conversion is doing well. Still playing with curves a bit. I am pulling the extra needle shims out finally. I have fouled out 2 sets of plugs with double shims - fancy that :) I had to take project time off...

Need white plastic thread in needle retainers

I had a friend misplace the threaded plugs and little springs that hold the needles in the slide. Not sure what happened. Think carbs were apart for a while. I sent him the ones out of my spare diaphragm assemblies. So now I need 4 springs and 4 screw plugs. I can get them I think in a needle...

Just ran a second tank through 2 up. I am hit 34.8 mpg. Checked the temp gauge carefully and it looks good. Ran this tank at night. So with ambient temperature at 85 F. the gauge always stayed below the halfway mark. Had to flog it hard 2 up to get it to raise much.

I am going to put a slightly different curve in next. Part throttle unchanged, but dropping maximum advance a few degrees. Just in case I am getting a bit of detonation. Check plugs and temp gauge for reference.

We rode 2 up all weekend on my most agressive curve. The bike weighs in at 900lbs with fuel. 2 people added 425 lbs. Usual saddlebag contents about 25lbs. The temperature gauge might be up a little from when the stock TCI was last used. But, we got 33mpg. Speeds from 25-50 on back roads and...

The stock Venture curve puts more advance in than a Vmax curve. And much sooner. The one I posted as the original is not what I am currently using. It caused a very flat part throttle. My current curve is different.

Original ignition curve supplied to me with ignitech Here are screenshots of the programming I got with the unit. It is labeled 85-88 Vmax-V88 program. It is set up for the original coils as you see the dwell is at long. The RPM limit is higher and the upper advance is higher.

It is not so much a Vmax at 130. But a 30 year old Venture at about 110, with the stereo blaring and a copilot on the back drinking her coffee!! With the fairing, I get float at about 125. And cannot hit it two-up. Took on a stock 110 Screaming Eagle with momma on the back. He was one up and...

I have a spare 1986 motor - in a frame- with the carbs- with the differential. If I grenade this one I would slide in the spare then go for a complete Vmax driveline. Then you would have another Dingy on your hands!!

Interesting. All of my work is down lower in part throttle. And I have set my redline at 8000rpm. Love technology. And as folks can see, I will push it. If you see a request for a good used motor from me, bet you can guess what I did :)

As Traumahawk and I have discussed over a few messages, the lower duration on a Venture cam reduces the effective cylinder pressure. Hence why I can run this type of curve. Let us caution Vmax users that you need to work your curve up slowly. If you used this one I have on a Vmax and twisted...

I only have E.T on road and butt dyno. I will load a Dyna curve up and see what I get. I moved what came with the box by about 2-4 degrees in the 2k-5k range. When you ad the MAP to it is where it starts spreading out. Does Dyna publish vacuum advance plus rpm advance individual, combined, or...

Traumahawk all I can tell you is I took the RPM only map and worked it from there. I dropped my redline down and matched my TPS to my MAP voltage at no vacuum. Then I arched the stock ignitech curve slightly in the 2000-4500 range. Kept bumping it until it felt right and pulled good. I do not...

A couple screenshots of my latest ignition settings. Now remember this is a 1986 VENTURE. It has the dual pickup and less aggressive camshafts than a Vmax. I will tell you that this ignition box has made a 30 year old bike really run. Still pushing 900lbs plus me, but it sure likes to rev now!!

Veebooster mine was too. The little reservoir took care of it.

Freaking Tap-a-talk loaded them upside down! I stuffed the reservoir up on my coil shelf next to the Ignitech and the MAP sensor.

I added a small reservoir to the MAP sensor vacuum line. Built from 1.25 inch pvc coupler, two plugs, and two brass fittings. MAP reading now only have a 3% total variance. Almost got this sucker where I want it!
