Changing the plugs isn’t that bad especially with all the information on this site, I did mine in a couple of hours. I removed the radiator hose to get the front left,made it easier.I think the plug change is going to take care of you’re problem.My 2009 has 1100 miles on it sits a lot ,hard on...

Also,if that doesn’t work,some of the 2009s had a recall check you’re vin.The symptoms you describe could be from that,throttle position sensor? and som else can’t remember,I’m sure you can search the forum and get more information.

Replace stock spark plugs you’ll be fine.

Smithwesson 442 J Frame 38 for me.

Faux cover,seat,battery,battery box front left radiator hose(optional)if I Rember correctly.

Forgot to add using a rubber tipped air chuck in the cyclinder drain holes and the air compressor cranked up to 100 psi popped off the caps off worked perfectly.I also used a short piece of gas line on the new plugs to start threading in the new plugs.

Definitely not a quick job.The spark plug wrench that comes with the tool kit is really handy.The left front plug is the hard one,I disconnected the to radiator hose to get a little bit more clearance.Take you’re time good luck.

Not sure what year you’re vmax is , some of the early production 2009 had a similar problem there was a recall on part of the wiring harness ,throttle position sensor? Took mine in for the recall even though mine didn’t have any problems

I have both,85 gen 1 and 09 gen 2 bought both brand new, 09 for me is just better more power better handling etc, but I ride my 85 more love both of them ,get both !

I’d check spark plug caps,probably time for a carb cleaning.

You can also take it for a ride maybe 2nd ,3rd hold it steady at 6000 to 6200 rpm you will feel it starting to open!

I’ve used the odyssey 680 really good for me , cranks my 85 good ferfect fit , lasts a long time, bought mine new in 85 ,10,000 miles,been through a lot of batteries!

I’d also try syncing the carbs,that might help if they haven’t been done in a while.
