Does fuel drain when you open the screw under the carbs? The engine runs on the pilot jet when starting and these tiny jets are easily blocked. Modern fuel has a tendency to gum up these jets when they have been sitting a while. Check the YT vids on tjhis topic and let us know how you go!

I believe the pilot jets are blocked as this has happened to me MANY times on MANY Bikes. if the bike has been sitting a while this often happens. It's usually an easy job to check the jets, but I have not done this on a VMX!!! There are plenty of videos on the tube for this job. Good luck.
