I've been riding on Dunlops since I've owned my Max. I always read here that the ride quality is noticeably different using Metzlers. Is that true and what is the best source for these tires? I want stock sized replacements.
Thank you

I'm sure everyone has their own tire guy, this is mine. I like the fact that he in a rider himself, so he knows what works best and his prices are good. He also will deal- at least he will in person and I asume he will on tires he ships, so if you find a lower price call him before you buy elsewhere.

It seems the Mezteler ME 880s have gone up in price lately.
Here's a Rear from Chaperral for $180.97 (free shipping):
http://www.amazon.com/Metzeler-ME88...rds=Metzeler+ME880+Marathon+Tire+-+Rear+-+150
And a Front for $119.97:

And Bike Bandit has the Stock sizes for
150/90-15 Rear: $182.95 - http://www.bikebandit.com/metzeler-me-880-marathon-reinforced-motorcycle-tire
110/90-18 Front: $121.95 - http://www.bikebandit.com/metzeler-me-880-marathon-motorcycle-tire

Personally I usually use the Shinko Tour Master 230 Rear Tire (it's the Stickiest rear tire I have ever used), but I have a Bridgestone Exedra Max on it now and am pretty happy with it also.
I also like a Sport Touring tire up front like the Bridgestone Battlax BT-45V or Metzeler Lasertec.
But I do the Majority of my riding on twisty back roads.

Thanks so much to everyone that replied! Now to decide what brand to get!

Metzlers are a gret improvement over Dunlop Qualifiers. In my opinion, the Qualifiers are unsafe for anything but a straight line, at legal speed, on dry pavement. That's just my opinion, obtained by sliding around rotorys (roundabouts). The Lasertech is a good front tire. Shinko Tourmasters always worked out good for me too.

I agree 100%, the OEM Dunlops were scary in ANY curve, the back would slip out.
Once I leaned far it enough to hit that LIP at the top of the sidewall and it actually was Skipping across the road.
I promptly Burnt that rear tire off and replaced both with Michelin Macadam 50's (which aren't made anymore).
