Starting my first vacation in 2 years. Needed it badly. Weather is still good enough to get some rides in but main reason is to build 180 foot of fence in the back yard. A break from work to get some work done, funny how that works. Anyway I'll get some progress photos up soon. Got all my material on site yesterday, I'll be setting posts today.

Posted posts pics. I got 16 more to do.
this is the first time setting post without a helper. Does not go very fast.
That and I must not be getting any younger. Or too many beer breaks.

Looks like work! You digging those by hand?

I used a little stihl gas powered auger. Made pretty short work of the holes but still had to clean out and widen a few. Started raining on me at about 1:30, slowed production a bit. Got my step dad helping tomorrow so should make some good progress. Start framing my rails tomorrow. I'll get more pics once it starts looking like a fence.

Got it done. Did some artsy fartsy on the tall boards, lady's request. Tried a tree silhouette but couldn't get it looking rite.
pretty happy overall.

Hard work. Last pic, on the left, it looks like before a beer break, then the curved-tops look like 'after the beer break.'

I thought of using the shaped tops like a silhouette on its side of something familiar. I'll post something I once saw in a local museum. When i saw it, it was instantly recognizable. I am not suggesting using this shape, just that you could use the same idea of a profile, like you did for the trees.

I still have enough material up high I could sketch something recognizable. It looks a little too Dr. Seuss style now.lol. my lady likes it though. I was a little rushed. Maybe I trace out some v-4 and scoops? A noticeable architectural rosette would be cool, I might look into tracing something up there still. Either way I'm stokes to be done, for now.

Final touches, put some handles on the gates. That's my son Van too. He's so awesome.

Well vacation time came and went again. This time instead of a vacation to build a fence or tackle a project around the house the family from few different areas met up in Kings Canyon California. Had some cabins rented and had a blast.
If any one has the opportunity to check out the giant sequoias, and hasn't, I strongly suggest it. Lots of tourists in certain areas but it doesn't take anything away from how impressive those trees are.
Man would I have loved to have been able to ride some of those canyon roads but couldn't fit the fam on back of the max.
