Got bike number 528 running well last night. Original owner even! he bought it very early in 1985. Will be at the Topeka event. I'm thinking he may have us restore it maybe this winter.

nice job dan, any pics of the work? how did it go, take her for a burn yet?

It went very well! The clutch kit is a simple install and works really well! For some reason it is much easier to find neutral, whether the bike is hot, cold, whatever, it just pops right in with no problems. There is more free lever off the handlebar too, where-as the oem grabbed just off the bars.

I took her out this morning for a short run up the Taconic....the SP helicopters seemed to have abandoned their 'search' so it's smooth sailing once again!! :rofl_200::rofl_200::rofl_200:

Here's some shots of how she looks, sorry...no pics of the clutch spring mod, it's simple tho. :punk:

So Dan, how do you like that nitrous rush? Did you go with the PCW spring cause you were feeling some slippage or did you just want to be sure and harness everything the bike is putting down with the blue bottle. Gotta be FUN when you hit the button!

Check/greased steering bearings. I was happy that the outer race showed zero wear. Also replaced Racetech forks with 20 wt oil and replaced front wheel bearings. No more service this year besides oil changes and then valve adjustment this winter.

I like it Mike, it's a bunch of fun!! Actually, some of both reasons on the PCW spring conversion...thought I felt a little slippage but the steel plates showed no bluing and friction discs looked like new, still, I feel better having it a little beefier anyway.

Looks like Dan-o will be buying a rear tire soon.

Gotta get back to Metz's somehow Kevin....right? :punk:

I'm thinking the 'overlook' on the Taconic would be a better place....eh? With the front tires up against the rock wall....a dozen bikes smoking up a storm!! One of the guys with cruise control (not me btw) could get it spinning, put the kickstand down, set the cruise and jump up on the wall to get 'the shot'!! :punk:

Then, of course, we'd have to scamper the hell out of there before all the fire fighting and law enforcement people in the county show up!!

Like this, just turn them around.....What could possibly go wrong!! :confused2:

you took the words right out of my mouth man :punk::punk:

epic man epic not sure why we didnt do that the first round. mmmmm cruise control ey, guess that would make the burn out like on a autopilot sort of thing ey:hmmm: interesting think you will have to show us what you mean, is the bottle involved in that one

everyone geared up and ready to make a break for it when all said and done, think if Redbone brings the girls this time they could take the pics and stand there to help slow down the "bobbies" when they come a calling with their visual distraction skills :punk:

Dropped the oil and changed the filter today. Had 54 miles since installing the 1300:biglaugh:. Now we are ready for the long haul:punk:

How did it look? Shouldn't have been all that bad but you should be good to go as you noted. Still running good and worth it after all?
Sean

:biglaugh::biglaugh:Every Penny!!!! Oil looked good. Still pretty clear. Bottom of oil pan had a small trace of some wear going on but nothing that made me nervous. I am going to play with my vboost adjustment in the morning alittle bit but I'm ready to head to Topeka:eusa_dance:

Escorted Forestdaledave & his Bro around Albany to I-87 north and drove right thru a hail storm!!

No place to stop, or even slow down.....J..J..Jeezus those things sting like hell!! :bang head:

Now that's when your happy you have a windshield on the bike. Had it happen to me a couple of times too. First time with no windshield on the bike :th_signs60:

Rode mine all afternoon yesterday with the GF on the back. She loved it!

Cruised around town all day, did about 50 hot n slow miles, and it still started at the end. That recon battery must'v e helped, and the charging system's problem is most defo intermittent. Still waiting for the parts to replace stator etc..

My 03 Max has been eating batteries. This Spring even after charging the battery and keeping it on a trickle charger it still went dead. I changed the battery to no avail and then started to follow threads on the VMOA site and this site. I took a chance that the problem was the Regulator/rectifier as I don't have diagnostic tools. I ordered an afternarket Reg. from EBay for $80 and installed it. So far so good! No start issues! Immediate start and no drag! I plan to get a more diagnostic tools but the info on both sites led to the probable causr and cure. Thanks, people, for your input. ttfndoc

Bought insurance for it :ummm:....
so I could do the title transfer.:clapping:
then rode the girlfriend about 30 miles or so around town ....
without worrying about the police:clapping:

Sounds like you may have the problem I have - bad stator. I now have a new one, but have had no time to replace it so far..
