Has anyone had their max kick back when trying to start up?? Mine has done this cold and hot and when it does it it sounds like its going to break the engine in half..
It acts like the timing is to advanced but I don't see how that could be possible. Flywheel key is good.. is there anything else I can check?

Usually weak battery is the cause. If it sounds like bunch of rocks in a metal box then time to replace starter clutch.

Did anyone find the solution to this problem?
I just replaced my starter clutch and now my 2004 Vmax is "Kicking back" when trying to start as well. Had it running, but it doesn't run near as well as it did before I did the starter clutch replacement.
I'm wondering if one of the wires on the flywheel pickup got damaged or disconnected while the stator cover was off?
Any suggestions on how to test that theory?
Has anyone else seen this problem?
