Hi everyone! My 85 max has the stage 7 kit installed. I bought the max that way. I also have an 83 venture I'm using as much as I can for parts. As far as I can tell the venture is stock, I'll have to do more digging to be 100%. However I do know the needles are stock.

My max is running way rich. Was way rich when I bought it and is still at that point after a carb overhaul.

All I'm trying to do at this point is get it rideable. I don't have a v-boost to install but that is on the list to do.

It has dj 165 mains, dj needles, dj slide springs. 170 paj2.

Could I use the parts from the venture to help lean the max out?

How many turns on the a/f mixture screws did the max come from the factory?

I'm still workin on the wet level on the floats. Any suggestions here will help.

Thanks.

This thread will give you an idea of where your jetting should be.

Venture jetting isn't going to help you.

If the carbs are already on the bike I would just jack and block the bike up to make the carbs as level as possible front to back, side to side, and check like that. If the level is off, the carbs come off for adjustment.

If carbs off the bike, on the bench, block them up on a level surface. Feed them with a temp fuel source, and check like that. I do them in pairs so its easy to open the float bowl and adjust if needed.

The float level, & sync are critical. The mains could be stepped down some. The A/F screws were set with a CO gauge at the factory and can all be different. 2 1/2 out from seated should get you in the ball park until you fine tune it. Wet level setting threads should be available here.

No v-boost. Are the stage 7 tubes installed, or?

Yes, the tubes are installed. I had the manifolds off for cleaning and saw open tubes between the intakes by looking through at an angle

Can I get a cross reference of some sort between mikuni jets and others or the math equation to figure it out with?

I found a cross reference between mikuni and dj that I needed.
