I build motorcycles in my spare time. I bought a 1989 vmax about 4 years ago for my brother, after riding it once I decided he doesn't deserve a bike like that. I rode it for awhile and then laid it down on coming off a ramp on the highway (it's not a sportbike). It sat in the garage for about a year as I was building various other bikes, all the while I was amassing parts to rebuild the vmax. I started actually building the vmax in 2013, now several years later it's all together. I am having an electrical issue at the moment so I haven't heard it run yet. First pic is from the day I bought the bike. Second pics are after dropping the bike (it was around 70mph and it slid into a guard rail)

I built a quick paint booth to accommodate painting the motor and frame.

Taping off the motor was a major bitch.

More pics on the next post.

Some upgrades include;

Progressive fork springs
Progressive rear shocks
I polished the head a bit (just got rid of all the crusty black powdercoating)
I rewired the entire bike
Fork brace
I modified the frame to stiffen it up a bit
Stage 7 jet kit
I sent the original UFO exhaust back to UFO and had them recoat it (less expensive than buying a brand new exhaust)

Otherwise pretty stock.

Looks like I don't have any current photos with everything else bolted on, I will post some later.

Nice job, hope you get your electrical prob figured out, if you haven't done it already your gonna want to do something with your handle bars to control the vibration, I just put solid motor mounts in mine over the winter and definitely vibs your hands, but much better handlng
