A 2800 lb car w/an all-aluminum 174 cu in fuel-injected engine is capable of more than 87 mph. The engine was built like many motorcycle and marine engines, like the VMax the crankcase & cyl's are together. .

Are '85's faster? The highest magazine HP figure I recall seeing was 119 RWHP but it wasn't an '85.

Delorean speedo only went to 85mph, some sources quote top speed as 86-87mph. But of an in joke at the film company that the delorean could never reach 88

IMO The whole 85 being faster all boils down to who you ask.The 85 owners say yes and ones who don't own an 85 say no!

LOL, how about from guys that have had many of the years? No discernable difference.

Endless debate settled by the "Oracle" of VMax-dom.

If you want to believe your bike is faster, go to the local strip w/yours and see if there's anyone to run against, w/a different year. Of course, if he's running a 1500 cc Tourmaster and nitrous, stay in the stands...

But, on a snowy 0* F night, with the chinook trying to work its way past the weatherseal on your triple-glazed windows, and your favorite ride safely tucked-away on a Battery Tender in your garage, shed, or basement, I suspect the debate will continue.

Lets settle this the usual way.

Lefty rides an 85 Vmax.....:th_image003:
