So I've been looking at different headlight options for the heck of it to see what's out there. I like a little more modern look personally and was wondering if anyone has tried the 5.75" LED like the one in the picture below. It's 100mm (3.9") deep, I haven't taken out the stock Vmax light in a while and can't remember how deep the stock bucket is. I know the connector is different but that should be an easy fix.

I've looked at the same thing and had the oem lens out recently. The bucket should be able to fit the day maker and the turn signal harness that's in there already.

One note of caution is that a number of the eBay day maker clones look good, but but offer a whole lot of lumens.

I guess I will have to decide whether or not to take a chance with the cheap one or bite the bullet and drop $200-$300?! Which probably won't happen without a argument from the other half! I do think the look pretty cool though and will go good with the blacked out look I'm going for. In another thread I posted this picture of my freshly plasti-dipped front wheel and fork lowers.

Looks pretty bright but i actually want to change the housing or something like that Harley looking light. I think the one I posted will fit in the stock bucket. I really want to see it on a Vmax before I purchase it.

Here are some pics of the one I bought off of eBay last year. It has two LED elements and no fan. Fits stock lens and bucket. Small ballast fits inside bucket.

Pics 1&4 are low beam

Pics 2&3 are high beam

The phone does not do justice to high beam illumination.

Im in need of more light too, last time I checked into it tech was moving fast but they had heat sync/fans which told me they were not quite there yet besides the possibility of submersion in my Samurai would kill them in short order. I have never played with LED hl before, do they spray light everywhere like an HID in a housing designed for a traditional lamp or do they keep a reasonably focused beam. I want light but not wanting to blind oncoming traffic.

The $20 led bulb on amazon with the fan on the heatsink is awesome, the 3000 lumen cree chips are crazy bright in the 7" housing I installed that has integrated led signals. The stock bulb that comes with the housing is super anemic but if you junk it for the led you're still only $40 into trying it out.

Thanks for posting it! Do you have more pictures of your max from different angle that you can post?

The LEDs will require adjustment, but can be adjusted to not blind on low beam.

Took these this morning for you. I can post links to the parts I used in a bit if you want.

I run the truck lite 7" led in the stock bucket. I still need to get a trim ring but it works

Has anyone ever tried using a hella vision plus light in our bikes? A friend of mine has a square set in his car and the light line is very good. Angles up a little on the right side so that you can see Street sign reflections. Works very nice and has a projector type light quality.

I also have a set for my first gen Dodge truck, but have not installed them yet. Was looking at seeing what hid's would look like. Also looking at a set of osram night breaker bulbs in them. Haven't decided yet.

I bought a 7" round set of these to use in my fairings, thinking they would outperform the OEM lens. I'm very disappointed. Using the standard 60/55 bulb, they seem to be less bright than the OEM. I don't want to put in a higher wattage bulb, because of the limitations of the V-max charging system.
Current supply doesn't seem to be the issue. Voltage is very close to battery reading, measured at the headlight connector.
I think the problem is the excessive fluting of the Hella lens, which reduces light output.
I'm looking around for a LED headlight replacement at present, and putting together a set of LED driving lights. This should make my battery/charging system very happy.
Cheers!

I have a few more 7" truck lites laying around check them out and let me know

I'm using this one, it works nicely. For additional highbeam I have a 6" led light bar underneath it. Lights up pretty good :biglaugh:
