Wanted to delete the rear fender and it looks very empty back there. What's the biggest tire I can run on a stock 86 rim and what are good upgrades. Thanks

A 170 is probably what you want. If you want a 190, you will probably need to widen the notch in the swingarm, not hard to do if you have access to a welder. You could try to fit a 190 and do the washer-swap on the axle, placing the axle nut washer inside the pumpkin between it and the rear wheel, to gain maybe 1/8" + of additional spacing for the larger tire. You really have to try it on whatever tire you use mounted.

You can also go to a wider wheel, I can get them made in 17" and 18" but they aren't cheap. First three pics is the 18" (bolt-up) then the next three is the 17" (weld-up). The 17" is much cheaper to buy. Going with a wheel in these sizes allows you to run radials, a big difference in handling is the result. PM me if interested.

I went with aftermarket 18" wheels which has a limited but good tire choices which fill up the rear wheel area pretty well. I have run Shinko/ Metzler tires both are good tires, but I normally stick with the Shinko 011 Verge tire sized 120/70ZR18 for the front and 200/50VR18 for the rear.
I also have 3" longer swingarm (by Sean Morley) and Carrozzeria wheels which help to run the wider tires. Here are a couple of pics:

I've seen a 180 function on an OEM wheel, but it really didn't fit right. +1 to Fire- Medic's wider wheel suggestion. Looking good Brian.

There is also the cycle one off wheels. I had a hayabusa wheel made for the rear of mine. LCR Performance in Rochester New York did the wheel for me. IMG_1148.jpg

I deleted my fenders and run a 170 Shinko. It fits on the on the stock rear wheel no problem.

Without a rear fender, the tire really stands out. I would go that route first and see if you like it.

That guy used to work for a friend of mine who was a motorcycle dealer in Rochester. Before that, my friend's parents were dealers for British and Spanish bikes in the 1960's. He raced for Bultaco in Europe in the 1960's! He and his brothers won hundreds, if not thousands of races, there were 5 of 'em. Even their sisters rode motorcycles to school, and this was before there was an 'electric foot' to do the heavy-work.

Any woman who can kick-start a Triumph or BSA has my respect. And, they were pretty, and smart! I just found out the St. Augustine FL May classic bike show is going to have at-least one if not more, of this family's competition bikes on display, a good bike show to see, the bikes are fabulous. Hi, i was wondering if you had to modified the swing arm too, and how much did you pay for the labor to get that wheel done?
