I thought this would be an interesting thread. most "famous" people are usually no different than you and me, just good at something. Not all I know. Those are the ones who believe all the hype. I seem to get around sports guys. The "superbowl" bills team was very available around the community. Jim Kelly, Steve Tasker still live here, and you can see them around. I was at "Moe's" in orchard park and was in line behind (Bills) Sammy Watkins. Like I said in medics thread, Rob Gronkowski's mom lives just down the road. for you hockey guys. I went to school with (Sabres) Patrick kaleta's dad, and his grandma was my lunch lady. The more I think about it, I rub elbows with the people who know the famous people:eusa_dance: Another guy i met, although not famous was really interesting. He Was a secrete service agent stationed at the white house. He stood guard at the oval office. He left there when Clinton got elected and went into training. No big secrets, but lots of stories. Who have you guys met or know?

Almost forgot Eddie Munster- Butch patrick

I've "met" several celebrities at dinners and airports. Mostly handshakes, and a couple of photos.

One meeting rises above all...to me anyway. I met the late Joe Strummer of the Clash and drank with him at the bar in a casino in Atlantic City.

He was a rock & roll hero to me and the Clash were and still are my favorite band.

He was a down to earth guy who always tried to put the fans first......doing things like forgoing royalties to release a 3 record set for the price of a single album.

I wanted to buy the drinks but he insisted......he only drank Heineken, so I did too. :)

I lived in los angeles and worked as a motorcycle messenger for over 25 years.
Our biggest client was a company called breslaur jacobson rutman and sherman.
My 2 older sisters were cpa's there and got me the job delivering to the clients.
You had to go the the banks and pick up cash and hand deliver to them requiring a signature from that person only. I am sure it would be hard to believe but the line is very very long of the people i met.
The clients that were most popular were spielberg, springsteen, streisand, the eagles, david geffen, david foster, michael mann, john hughes and all of the members of the brat pack, bernie brillstein (agent and producer for all the old snl members and maker of almost all their movies), clive davis, jimmy iovine (interscope records), barry diller (head of 20th century fox), don simpson and jerry bruckheimer of paramount studios, johnny carson, danny elfman, brian setzer, rick springfield, jack nicholson, marlon brando, richard chamberlain, tina turner, alex trebek, seriously i can go on but it really gets harder to believe- You would see stars on the street every day and you would think you knew that guy or girl from somewhere and then realise it was a character actor or someone that did a lot of commercials.
I made close friends with matt leblanc, lou diamond phillips, esai morales, bret michaels and in 1987 i delivered 1 million dollar checks from bruce springsteen to every member of his band as a christmas bonus from him.
First star i met when i moved to ca in 1986 was the football player jim brown.
But i did meet burt reynolds at a hotel in midland texas when i was 15.

I was at a bar in Sandy Springs, GA, back in '88 or '89 and ran into Mike Fratello who was pretty drunk with a open chair next to him. I sat down and said hello, we talked for about 20 minutes before he got interested in a girl across the bar and off he staggered. He was kind of arrogant but did I mention he was drunk?
Former NBA player Cliff Robinson is married to a hometown girl and is a pal of James Edwards (Detroit Pistons Bad Boys team) and at a local bar I ran into the duo and luckily got to talk to James for a little bit. Super nice guy and very personable, I've seen him since and he even remembered my name!:punk:

I forgot too i played on the same junior college basketball team as anthony "spud" webb (slam dunk champion over dominique wilkins and michael jordan) for the midland college chaparrals. He was the shooting guard and i was the point guard. We were 4 days apart on our birthdays.
I have met a whole lot of NHRA racers over the years.

I did, quite a few-
The largest i ever delivered was 3.3 million to john hughes to sign a contract with warner bros studios.
I got a large tip from richard dreyfuss on the set of a movie called "NUTS" with him and streisand- i handed him a check and he reached for his wallet then turned to barbra and she looked the other way hiding her face. I said this is from breslaur jacobson and she turn back to sign for it-I heard she NEVER gives an autograph but i kept the copy and had to turn in the original.

Did I ever tell you the story of me having to tell Huey Lewis and his entourage to keep it quiet?!
I met dozens of famous people as Senior Security Officer for Marriott. They only stay at the best accommodations. Politicians, music and sports stars. Mike Tyson said to me, They sure do grow em big in Dayton as I escorted him and Don King up the service elevator. I made Mike look small but I wouldn't want to have to take a punch from him. Stevie Ray Vaughn and Jeff Beck had me sit with them at there private table after a show. Ollie North, most tennis stars of early mid eighties, sat and talked with Neal Pert about a half an hour. Several famous astronauts attending WPAFB events. To be honest, no one ever a dick to me or acted stuck up. Well, Davey Jones of the Monkees was a little stuck up. Little man syndrome. Drank a beer with the cute red head from show Taxi while in college. She was there for a relatives graduation. She refused to burn one with me though!

I was fortunate to work on several redskins houses and coach Hanafins (sp) hose back in the late 80's . Ate ice cream with Robert Duval one time at a local creamery I mention to him my brother was his fedex Currier so that started off with pleasant conversations real nice man by the way . . My grandfather was best pals with Hugh Hefner's dad and His dad was impressed with my grandfather that he named Hugh's middle name after my grandfather and Hugh named one of his Marston Hefner .

My mother went to high school and graduated with roy orbison. They grew up together in west texas in a town of 300 called WINK, Texas.
It was rumored that on the hiway passing by if you winked you would miss it.
I met him in 1988 at a restaurant on sunset blvd in west hollywood and asked him if he remembered her and he said "you mean dodie"? That was her nickname-now mine is "forrest".

Thats cool Kyle. Was she all that, like in the movies. I always liked her. I remember her on laugh in. I was maybe 8 at the time.

Yep she was still decent looking then & very sweet & down to earth she did not act like a big shot & talked with me just like she knew me forever.

The guys I was working with were really jealous they kept trying to get pictures with her & trying to be up her ass & get her to sign every thing in the world.

I never asked her for anything just did what I was supposed to be doing & only asked her something when needed & when it came time for dinner she came & told me I could sit at her table & the other guys freaked out. I still never asked for a picture or Autograph the moment was enough for me.

Ive met all the members of Metallica and KMFDM while wandering around detroit before concerts for each band. All were pretty cool in person. I once met Ice from the original American Gladiators show when i was young at the Detroit Auto Show. She was just there for the show and being a horny lil kid, i EASILY recognized her, lol. She was rather sweet and quite amazed that someone so young recognized her.
