Corpus Christi, TX, anyone?

Just wondering if there are any members in the Corpus Christi, TX area. I will be heading down there Tuesday for work. Planning to be there for the next couple of months, so I'm taking the '94 with me. Would be cool to find someone to ride with. HMU if you are in the area and want to get together.

Be mindful of the wind down there. Grew up down there. Unfortunately there isn't much in the way of nice riding there. Everything is flat straight and windy. Dynamo Cycles is a nice accessories shop in CC, assuming it is still open.

l was born in McAllen and lived in Alice not long ago (just down the road). Couldn't get anyone to come out riding with me either. Don't miss the Bar B Q joint in Robstown. The name escapes me at the moment but ask around; it's very well known. Unfortunately you are right middle of the 'wild horse desert' as it was known back before it was settled, so you really are in for lots of strait roads that go on and on. If you don't mind riding to get to 'good rides' you can at least get some decent roads; if you want to make a three day weekend of it I'd say hit the 'twisted sisters'. Only about 200 miles from one of the best set of roads in tx. Ride up on Friday have diner on the river walk, spend Saturday blitzing the hell out of them, ride over to New Braunfels for breakfast before heading home Sunday morning.

I say if you have the chance ride the 200 miles or so & ride around Austin,borne,round rock ETC there is some nice riding out that way. You Just missed the Gypsy's Valentine massacre in in Borne. I have had tons of fun with them guys out there.

I'm used to the long, straight roads. I lived way out west in El Paso for a few years. Most likely won't have time to do the twisted sister run this go-round. It would almost be easier to plan that trip from home base in Tulsa. I don't really care how boring the ride is as long as I'm riding. Looks like I will be pretty busy with work while I'm here, so it will only be day-trips for the most part. Just means more money to buy Monkey feed later...

Just went for a nice ride out to Port Aransas. Stopped in at Dynamo Cycles on the way out. Pretty cool place and friendly people. Lots of inventory too. My chief complaint about most bike stores is lack of selection. Most places now days just want to order everything. That place had just about everything you could need for maintenance or aftermarket universal stuff. The wind actually died down for the first time since I got here on Monday so it was a plesent ride.

I grew up out in West Texas, Pecos to be exact; Had a visitor ask once...

"Dang, does the wind blow this way all the time"

My answer...

"No, sometimes it blows the other way"

Ha! Yeah, it gets worse closer to the mountains. The good thing is that it's less likely to have a chance to build up toxic gas clouds like h2s and product vapors with wind whipping across the pipeline site at ground level. On the other hand, it slows down our crane operations. Lots of stuff buried under these old pipeline facilities. Never know what you will run into once you start digging. Everywhere you dig out here looks like an underground cattle guard.

If there's ANY way you can
Make it up to the hill country the Three Sisters can't be beat. Best riding in several surrounding states.
Eureka Springs in Arkansas is better but, we'll, its in Arkansas.

Looks like I'm going to be tied down on saturdays. Sucks when the contractors want to work on the weekends. Oh well, one extra day of pay per week is ok by me. I just have to stand around and watch them work anyway. Not like its hard.

I'm working on an electrical upgrade project for Magellan Pipeline. Their facility here is dated to say the least. We are installing an MCC and updating a sub-station. I work for a contractor that does design, drafting, power quality analysis, and industrial electrical troubleshooting. I got most of my training from the Army and Went to college at University of Southern Colorado. I had a wrestling scholarship for OSU after high school, but I got my girlfriend pregnant so I went to work in the oilfield and got married instead.

If your interested Dashiell is always hiring field service folks. You sound like a fit. We can't find enough good people, the whole Power industry is hurting for talent, and has been for years. Not electricians but for technical people.

We do High Voltage Substation construction and maintenance. And we are a total EPC Company, The Union side of our outfit, Dacon, builds 'em,
Dashiell engineering and project management does just that, Dashiell Field Service (my part) does all the testing, checkout and commissioning. Mostly on the construction side of things our hardest job is finding everyone else's mistakes, from engineering on down. And doing project management for all the inside protection and control work even tho its not in our scope.

We also have a lot of maintenance crews working all over the Houston Petro-Chemical complexes, but I hate maintenance and the plants so I volunteer to travel so I stay in the Utility side of things.
