I think 442 stands for 400 4 speed 2 door. I think in 1968 the grill and tail lights and headlights looked different and i think my uncle painted it to look like a 1969. I was only around 10 years old in the mid 70s but i think i still remember it right.

4 speed, 4 barrel, dual ehaust. 68 and 69 were similar in body style but the 68 had horizontal taillights and the 69 were verticle. Changed the body in 70. I started kindergarten in 69 :eusa_dance:
 
Thats right 4 speed 4barrel dual exhaust. It did come with a 400 also dident it. I was born in 1964 and i feel it was one of the best times to be young.

Yep. they came with a 400. Then eventually with a 350 and 455
 
You used to see bumper stickers that said " a 4 on the floor and a 5th under the seat" lol, boy have times changed.
