I think 442 stands for 400 4 speed 2 door. I think in 1968 the grill and tail lights and headlights looked different and i think my uncle painted it to look like a 1969. I was only around 10 years old in the mid 70s but i think i still remember it right.

4 speed, 4 barrel, dual ehaust. 68 and 69 were similar in body style but the 68 had horizontal taillights and the 69 were verticle. Changed the body in 70. I started kindergarten in 69 :eusa_dance:
My roots go pretty deep in GM, couple '57 Chevy's, '69 Gran Sport, '75 Vette....but always had a soft spot for the ol' 426 Hemi....that was serious muscle at the time.

Yep. they came with a 400. Then eventually with a 350 and 455

You used to see bumper stickers that said " a 4 on the floor and a 5th under the seat" lol, boy have times changed.
