Saw him race Formula 1 multiple times in the 1960's. An innovator in mechanical development, and from a family of innovators. The Gurney Alligators should go up in price now, as they were hand-made. I got his autograph at Daytona one year.
"This old thing? Totally-stock! And not runnin' so-well, either!"

I started going to The Glen in 1968. He finished pretty well that day, if memory serves. F1 at Watkins Glen was an experience I'll never forget.
1985, Red (The fast color).
134,000+ miles. Bought new 4/18/85.
COPS, SH775 Series Voltage Regulator, Corbin Seat,
Progressive Fork Springs, and Rear Shocks.
Delkevics, Black Cherry Paint,
Drag Bars, Bar End Mirrors, Red Anodized Levers,
LED Head, Tail, Signal & Brake Lights.
I've never been into the motor. And I never got hauled out of a ditch.
I've never seen the Oil Light, either.. I don't care.. I'M riding it RIGHT!!
I grew old with this bike. Nothing left to prove.
Its a keeper!
1988 Schwinn World. Also Red.

A true legend is lost - in a time when the word gets well overused. RIP
You live more in 5 minutes on a bike like this going flat out than some people live in a lifetime.
