After riding my 14 this weekend and riding the Vmax before I left, I forgot how bad the factory mirrors vibrate. At 70 mph, I couldnt make out cars behind me. I could see them but couldnt make them out. at 100 mph on the 14, it looks like I am standing in front of the bathroom mirror, everything is so crystal clear. Its amazing what technology has done over the years.

I pulled the grab bar off last night, I was going to powder coat it in Black Chrome, but I am thinking now I might do it in Red chrome instead to match the body panels. So I stripped it and polished it up a little last night. It might be put back on polish until I order the translucent red powder.

Replaced the clutch and a few things.

The clutch was slipping so I decided to install a double d to take care of that problem.

Not sure which cover insert to install.

Spare cover I will prep so I don't have to clean up the original oily one.

Swapping out parts. I installed the double d spring, a full inner friction and used another set of steels that I media finished with 80 grit aluminum oxide. The fibers were still within spec.

Took it for a test ride and its fantastic. Just like every DD setup I have installed.

I think this time I am going to install a larger bore piston clutch master to take some of the umph needed to muscle the clutch lever. It does get to be a pain in traffic.

Next I ll be doing the mid gear cover gasket as that is leaking. After that I am not sure if I am going to machine a clear water pump cover or just make a cool design on the original.

A few things down the pipe.

1 Exhaust to give it that Vmax sound
2 Crash guards I ll custom make with highway pegs
3 Powder coat LOTS of stuff
4 Busa front calipers with R1 rotors
5 An all black seat.
6 Some Silver or chrome scoops. I am open to trade my mint all black factory ones for a set.

And and and....

Had to do the shotgun cleaning on the carbs. The bike surged a little at highway speed since I got it and I was hoping to run it with cleaner and work itself out. But it just did a 180 and would barely run.

So.... I cleaned it up a little.

One air mixture screw was damaged taking it out. But I cut a slot in it and reinstalled it, until I can get a replacement. Runs like a champ now!

That rear grab bar looks sweeetttt.. I think I would go black Chrome on the scoops and grab bar.. But then again I love the look of that black chrome.. Just can't afford it..

Thanks,
I hate having to maintain polished aluminum. HEnce the reason I was going to powder coat it in a translucent. But it does look nice.

Todd you need a smaller piston clutch to lower the effort on pulling not bigger. Expect a bit longer travel which on the clutch will not be a problem though.

Your right, I don't know what I was thinking when I typed that. I was looking at my clutch setup on the ZX14.

I am not a brainiac in hydraulics, but when do you have to worry about the clutch slave?

I found this color and I might use this gunmetal color instead of going all red.

I am thinking wheels, forks, triples, handle bar clamps, bars, levers, masters, swing arm, grab bar and pegs. Possibly radiator cover ( I think I am going to make a custom one ), valve covers.

What do you guys think?
