I have shipped 4 bikes and have used Allied, Forward Air, and UShip (twice). UShip is a place you put your requirements in and shippers bid on your job. They have feedback so you can rate their service. It is usually independents and can sometimes be very cheap. If a shipper is already going your way and has room, he will offer a really low price since it is "free" money. The more flexible you are in pickup and delivery times, the better price you can expect.
