Also gunna probably get tix to Doobie Brothers and ZZ Top.
Just wondering what summer concerts you all will check out this summer.

To stick with the question.. I am going to see my favorite band in the world (since 94).. 311 !!! :worthy: Wife got the tix yesterday, as theyre finally back in CT next month.

Saw them last year In new York, stayed in a hotel overnight, and my room number?.. yes, you guessed it. Room # 311. :punk:

Saw these guys a couple weeks ago, very expensive tickets, the most I ever spent, and I've been attending rock & roll concerts for close-to 55 years.

The very first live performer I saw was during my time in what's now called 'middle school,' it was a concert in Rochester NY and Leslie Gore played. It was when she was very popular, "It's my party (and I'll cry if I want-to)," "Judy's turn to cry," and probably my favorite song of hers, feminism before there was that word, I believe, "You don't own me." She might have lip-synched, for all I know, it was very entertaining, though. With older brothers, I was exposed to the gamut of early rock & roll, and the folk-song time a bit later. I was in jr. high school when the Beatles and the British Invasion hit, and I still have my original LP copies of Between the Buttons and Rubber Soul, and a picture-sleeve 45 of "I saw her standing there" and "I wanna hold your hand." In 1964, the Beatles held the #1 position in the United Kingdom for 40 weeks. And this summer is the 50th anniversary of my favorite rock album of all-time, "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band."

Speaking of ZZ Top, I once saw them open for Eric Clapton in West Palm Beach at the dragstrip there. It caused a horrendous traffic jam, and we had to walk miles to get in. People were abandoning all the stuff they were carrying, it looked like the rout of an army-coolers, tents, lawn chairs, clothing, just left on the sides of the road, Beeline Hwy, not too-far from the Everglades. Appropriately we got close to the concert in a VW bus.

Last concert I attended was Iron Maiden in the McNickols Arena. This was years before it was leveled in 2000 so I'm dating myself too. Seeing Les Claypool play will be one helluva show!

This will be my fifth time seeing Primus. It seems to get better everytime. About 4 years ago they played at the same venue and the had a giant projected screen that was all 3D. They handed out 3D glasses at the gate. It was awesome.
Slayer and lamb if God are playing the same weekend. Might try and make that one too

Only one im gonna make it too this summer is VNV Nation. They put on a pretty good show. I want to go see Slayer again but its not gonna happen this year. Probably for the best since i get one or both of my lips busted open every time i see em, lol.

I haven't seen Primus in a LOOOOONG time. Probably 20+ years. Less Claypool is a beast. Saw U2 a few years back when they were in St. Louis. Expensive tickets, but I wanted to see them live at least once. No regrets.

There's a good venue here in St. Louis called The Pageant that has a lot of good acts that come through. Me and the prettier half are gonna go see one of her favorite bands next week called In This Moment. Then in August I'll be seeing one of my favorite musicians presently and his band called City and Colour. He used to be the lead guitar player for a heavy metal band called Alexisonfire , but his solo stuff is very chill and mellow, but really good stuff.

Pretty excited to see Queens of the Stone Age in Oct. Still deciding if I want to see Johnny Lang. Loved his blues stuff back when he first came out.

The band I'm waiting for to come to St. Louis is Highly Suspect. The more I listen to them the better their music gets. Solid 3 piece rock band.

In This Moment is AWESOME live! I used to see them quite regularly when they were a local band in Detroit playing in the early opening time slots for next to no one and they always rocked! Ive seen them well over 20 times now, a good chunck of them being at Harpos in Detroit. I still have a tshirt and a couple of cds from the first time i saw them back in the early 2000's, lol.

Aug 2 is when Primus is coming to Mankato at a great venue dubbed Vetterstone Ampitheater. Annual Ribfest in Mankato goes on there and I have seen some good shows, one of the favs being Collective Soul a few years ago. My brother took me to Primus years ago for my Bday at the, not State Theater, maybe it was, in Minneapolis. Might have been a diff one, but cool show. Being a bassist, Les is one of those guys that make you wanna quit, he's pretty awesome and definitely signature in the industry. So, not sure if I"ll be going to Primus, but quite possibly. Clutch is playing with them, hadn't known them, did some research, not too impressed with it all.... so ...eh..

Other than that, I'm going to see LEd Zeppelin 2 at Mystik lake casino tonight. Since I'm in a Zepp trib band, might as well see what these guys do to make it to bigger venues, also gotta check out the competition ya know..

Other than that, Ribfest will have some less than desired acts coming, so my summer may be pretty quiet on that front.

Saw U2 back in 98, Popmart tour. That was a month before seeing the Stones for the second time, Bridges to Babylon tour.

My wife just bought tix to see Toto and Pat Benatar & Neil Giraldo September 10th, the day after my bday. We saw Toto 2 years ago touring with Yes and they blew it out of the water. Steve Lukather is an excellent guitar player, love to watch him jam.

As for Primus, the last time and only time I've seen them live was WAY back in the early 90s, maybe 1991, when they opened for Rush. Geddy Lee is a big Les Claypool fan it seems. It was a helluva show!

If anyone hasn't seen the Eric Clapton Crossroads Guitar Festival from 2010 it's on MTV live and it is good.

That's great to hear. I've never seen them live. But looking forward to seeing them. Some bands are soooo much bigger and better live than their studio work.

We have VNV Nation coming in Oct as well. Might go see them if schedules work out. My girlfriend got me hooked on VNV Nation and Combichrist years ago.

Yep, big fan of TCV. Or to be honest -- I'm gonna listen to anything Grohl is involved in. He's such an amazing musician.
