Who owns it and what does he want to turn it back on? Like I said before, I have the IT experience to run a website, have done it before. If it's $$$$ he needs to get it back up and running, can help there too. What a SHAME it would be to lose all the information on that forum...

That's a shame, because I remember when they asked if "somebody" would take it over, I volunteered but it went to Tim instead. If he didn't intend to keep the lights on, he should have turned it over to somebody like myself, that gladly would have, and have the I/T experience to moderate and...

    bike shipping service

U-Ship is a joke, I also have a couple horror stories, but let's just say the bikes arrived with damage that the shipper did not fess up to. Luckily, I had taken pictures of both incidents, so I was not held responsible. The problem with U-Ship is you have no idea whose going to show up, one...

    Sub-4K bikes?

There are 1st generation VMAX's selling all over the country for less than 3K, heck, I've seen runners closer to 2K already this spring. The muscle bike market is down, and HAS BEEN down for several years, the old days when just about ANY running VMAX would bring 3-5K are all but over!!!!!!

    Thinking about selling

There are obviously going to be exceptions to every rule, but just because you sold yours for 6K, doesn't mean that's the new market value for 1st generation VMAX's. You give me $2500 bucks and I PROMISE you I could find a nice running 1st generation VMAX somewhere in the US. Like I said, we...

    Thinking about selling

Just noticed this one, here's a better idea of realistic pricing. https://orlando.craigslist.org/mcy/d/1999-yamaha-vmax-1100/6445337390.html

    Thinking about selling

Yep, $3500 would be a good place to start, especially dead of winter, although I realize you're down in Florida, but I would imagine bike sales are slower down there in January than it would be during the "warmer" months.

    Thinking about selling

Simply based on sample size, I'd say your valuation of the market is just a microcosm of what's actually happening across the US. The 1st gen VMAX market specifically, and the 80's muscle bike market generally are down 25-50% from where it was just a couple years ago. The prices peaked around...

    Thinking about selling

OK, we'll take your word for it. I think a better explanation is you haven't looked around hard enough to know the difference. I scour the country for VMAX ads all day, every day, and post them on several VMAX Facebook pages, and there are other guys like me that do the exact same thing. Many...

    Thinking about selling

I don't know where you've been looking, but you are 100% dead wrong when it comes to first gen values, I quit restoring them a few years ago because they had become too hard to sell, and the prices are STILL way down, at least in the NE USA. I post nice ones on the Facebook Group...
