What clutch for stock Gen 1?

Yes, OEM plates. Yes, the DD holds stronger than the PCW spring or the barnett conversion with the springs it comes with. You can buy heavier duty springs for the barnett

Question on $ to order parts vs sending carbs out to get cleaned/rebuilt

https://www.vmaxforum.net/threads/carb-parts-needed-for-total-rebuild.2294/ See this thread. Price out the parts you need. Ron Ayers, Partzilla, Bike Bandit, RMATV, etc.... are all pretty decent online suppliers. Send an email to danny and/or sean and see what kind of price they quote for...

    Difference between aftermarket exhausts

I'm sure Dale knows his stuff. I'm sure a slip on can make power on other bikes. On the Gen 1 vmax, I've not seen any slip on that does anything more than add noise.

valve cover gasket change mechanic in MD

If you want to bring to Pittsburgh area, I can do it in my garage. Planning to wrap up 2 current projects by Friday 11-6 and will be ready to accept a new project on Saturday 11-7.

    Difference between aftermarket exhausts

No slip on or stock exhaust mods will increase power. None. All the major brand full exhaust systems perform close enough to one another to say there is no best. Buy your exhaust based on what looks and sounds best to you. If you install a full exhaust, you can get away with decreasing the...

Stuck Mixture Screw ... but not like you're thinking

https://www.kleintools.com/catalog/screwdriver-sets/screwdriver-set-slotted-screw-holding-3-piece I use these at work for holding screws in tight spots. Not sure if they'd grip enough to actually pull out a stuck screw but they do grip well enough to install a screw in some really awkward spots

    Vmax fuel issue...maybe

So it idles fine and runs fine with the throttle wide open? Maybe a needle issue. Try shimming the needle up a bit. You don't need to remove the carbs and cost is minimal.

    Frame braces

Yes. I purchased an extended and braced swingarm from Sean Morley. I also added radials at the same time. I can't confirm it was a combination of the parts or one, more than the other but, it definitely eliminated the flex that you could feel while riding hard thru a long turn.

    Frame braces

Braces vs Solid mounts is an old debate. I went with OEM Yamaha aluminum mounts after I read pages and pages of info. QTY (4) 4XY-15541-00-0 QTY (2) 4XY-15542-00-00 Sean had them in stock. Fitting them takes some time and a lot of bike disassembly. That's nothing that ever bothered me, I...

    Brake calipers upgrade

Yes, Nissin is the company that makes brake products. Not Nison. A company by the same name makes ramen noodles too. Yes, YZF 750 Calipers. Yes, made by Sumitomo. There is another bike these came on but don't remember the info. US bike fitment is below. This Yamaha 4FM-2580U-30-00 CALIPER...

    Nice bike

My knees would be in my armpits with that footpeg arrangement. On a separate note, I would LOVE to own a TZ750!

    Monster Big air Kit question

Sounds pretty similar to the STG7 vs morleys muscle debate for the Gen1 vmax.

    Nice bike

I think it looks pretty good but it needs a few more things to look better IMO. If you're gonna build a custom machine, you gotta go for the gusto! There is a big, ugly gap between the side covers and the new seat pan they installed that leaves you with a great view of the fuel tank and the...

    R1 gold dot

Chrome may warp the inserts or make them very difficult to reinstall and seal. I removed my inserts, removed the anodized coating, and polished them vs. chrome.

    Spark plug

The ones you received are "Iridium" plugs. They work just fine pending you did not get knock off NGK plugs from ebay. Which, is becoming much more common! Nothing wrong with the plugs you got. They work just the same, no performance benefit but the IR plugs are supposed to last longer than...
