You got the 'ol '86 looking pretty good. Glad its treating you well. Thanks for sharing the pics. I don't get out on mine much at all these days. Its buried in the garage, sleeping under a fuzzy blanket waiting to be awakened.

    Spring length?

Stg 7 springs are shorter than stock which allow the slide to open sooner. I'm not sure on the actual lengths.

    vmax side panel logo

1UT-21783-00-00 Part number for the left side emblem on 1985-2004 vmax I'm pretty sure you'll have to come up with your own adhesive to stick this on the cover.

    vmax side panel logo

O6 and 07 have the same with the red on the sides to go with the red flames on the tank. Other than that, that's the only differences I'm aware of.

    vmax side panel logo

https://www.partzilla.com/product/yamaha/5GK-2173B-00-00 Seems there are slight differences in the emblem over the years. Not sure what year your bike is but this is for 05-07. Note that there are separate PN's for the left and right side.

What did you do to your Vmax today? Part 2

Nice! What LED's did you use? The last photo of the LED's lit up, is that before you put the resistor in? Seems pretty bright in that photo.

problems with the throttle, vmax 92

The vmax has a push/pull dual cable setup. If you roll the throttle forward does it close and slow down, or does the issue still persist? I have a hard time understanding why it would physically stick only when hot? I'd be more apt to believe its a tuning issue than a physical issue. When was...

    Indicator Woes

Were the old LED? If so, heck the "idiot" light on the dash to see if someone altered the circuit (installed diodes) to make it work right. Did you check for any hidden resistors? They are often installed to cure blink rate issues with LEDs. Under scoop, under dash, under rear seat are...

    Is Vboost fitted?

Looks like servo motor, and intake assembly is there. What about the controller under the left scoop? Is it there and plugged in?

    Breakdown oh no!

Not sure where you are or what year bike you have but I guessed and attached a color wiring diagram. The main fuse in the bottom right corner. Follow the wires on the paper and see where they go. Do the same on your bike and inspect things along the way. Dont discount the actual main fuse...

    Vboost: Cable Movement Open Direction?

This file has the same info but there is a little wiring diagram @ the end for the switch.

    Vboost: Cable Movement Open Direction?

If you buy a momentary DPDT switch, you can use it to open and close the Vboost as you'd like. Unplug the power feed to your existing controller. Run a + and - wire from the connector to the switch input. I put an inline fuse on the + just in case. Cross the + and - wires over to the opposite...

    Spark plug

I've not heard of many people having issues with the stock NGK plugs. I've been running the same set for a LONG time. We keep the same sparkplugs in our gasoline engine trucks for 100K miles plus..
