Check to make sure your stage 7 needles are moving freely within each carb. Dale

I've got a leak in the same spot. Doesn't leak much but is annoying. I'm 95% sure it from the top of the stator cover as mentioned. I've never had that cover off (2002) I can't see it bubbling out though. Dale

Also check that your needles/slides are moving freely.

If i remember right the manual says the shift rod length is 30-34mm. That doesn't give much adjustment. If you get outside of that range the lever angle may make if it more (or less) difficult to shift. You can get more by pulling the assembly off and adjusting at the shifter itself. I had to do...

Good info guys. You're both similar to mine although I haven't done any dyno work. 155 mains stage 7 needles at 3 clip. COPs and Plugs at .038. Runs smooth there and I'm leaving it! Trauma I don't know how you get yours to run at 1.5 clip - disregard , I see now you've got FP needles. Dale

Guys, help out an ignition dummy - why would you want a higher advance at lower rpms? I would naturally think that advance should increase with piston speed (rpm). I must be missing something. Dale

I think I got it! My vmax is running like new after new cops, plugs, and fiddling with a sticking needle. I've been riding my FZ09 alot and it's a great bike but the vmax is just something special! Dale
