    Fuel flow issue.

Very likely the ignition coils are OK despite the cracks. See CaptainKyle's youtube video about VMax cracked coils and a dissection of one to show that the cracks in the case are usually superficial. You can also search under his screen name here, for the video. Something is fundamentally...

    Lifetime rider/racer first Vmax

Welcome. I used to be from your neck of the woods, racing in Muskegon and Buchanan. Did the motorcycle come out of the Gilmore Car Museum in Hickory Corners? Some of the forum members are going to visit the museum on Sept. 7.

How To: Update older model shift segment

Flush the cooling system with a good cleaning product & be sure to rinse it thoroughly, then re-fill. A prior owner may have removed the thermostat or replaced it w/a wrong one. That could make it run hot. I would check for a presents or absence of the proper thermostat and use of a candy...

Oil Leak Out of Exhaust Port #1

Is it smoking on that side, assuming you have 2 exhausts? Time for a compression test, I'd say. Hearing a leak of air from the exhaust would suggest a bad exhaust valve.

V-Max Speed Wobble (ran it up to 115mph and...)

No way to economically repair nicks in the chrome. Labor is too-costly to make an effective repair. The chrome would need to be removed, the scratch/gouge re-worked to a smooth surface and re-plated. Buy new.

What is gui crap in my airbox?

Those tests are for when the bike has an obvious issue, like pouring smoke out of the exhausts, CO2 in the coolant, overheating or other indicators of serious issues with the engine.

What is gui crap in my airbox?

The tests are to help determine the case of excessive blow-by from failing components in your machine. If the bike starts to smoke excessively, or only on some, but not all cylinders, then those are two ways to find where the problem(s) lie. If you can change your own sparkplugs, you can do...

Make sure it's for wet clutches. Your clutch issue is likely due to being in-need of a full-bleed. I recommend a reverse-bleed, where you push fluid into the slave cyl bleeder. You start by emptying the master cyl of the clutch reservoir. As you push brake fluid into the slave cylinder, you...

Tach and 2 cylinders dead when hot

I see the arcing. Usually that's a faulty plug cap or wire, or both. In the points/coil days, carbon tracing on the inside of a distributor cap could cause what you see. A cracked distributor cap was also prone to do that, as was water inside the cap, not uncommon after blasting through standing...

V-Max Speed Wobble (ran it up to 115mph and...)

Don't be surprised when your new nicked tubes chew-up your new seals in short order despite the patch attempt. A couple sources for new replacement fork tubes: Forking by Frank, I've used them and am satisfied with the product Race Tech who has two different types, the titanium nitride forks...

As is said, "there's an *** for every seat." Some people prefer one to another. The best thing to do is to try out a seat you're considering to buy and see if your needs are met with that one. If not try another. Sean Morley can re-work your stock seat too. He will discuss what you find lacking...

How did you setup your clutch lever?

Yeah, I bet your issue is still an incomplete bleeding. The clutch needs a complete bleed, where the resistance happens quickly in the lever pull. Have you tried the reverse-bleed? You may need a master cyl rebuild if a reverse-bleed doesn't fix it. The piston in the master cyl could be...

Looks like a 1985-'86 front rim. What's missing? It appears to not be ragged-out. Welcome. Reading for you. https://ia800204.us.archive.org/14/items/printermanual-yamaha-vmax-vmx12-service-manual/yamahavmaxvmx12-service-manual.pdf...

    Maxgasser seats

I don't think Maxgassers are still being made. Kyle or Sean may come across a used one once in awhile.

Motorycle For Sale 99 VMX12 OBO

H-D's have a lot of torque off the bottom-end. Once they start to taper-off you might as-well shift. Long-stroke engines are like that. Short-stroke/'over-square' piston bore engines like to rev, and they rev higher than 'under-square' engines. Revving higher is where 'over-square' engines...
