    engine case swap

OK< tell us what is the year on your steering head decal. What market (Country) does it say the bike was made-for? This list says, France. 1986, & 1988. DPS color=Deep Scarlet; ARE=Apple Red Finally, a picture of the 2-lead 1990+ pick-up coil system electrical lead...

    engine case swap

Early '85-'89 engines use a 5 lead wire from the two pick-up coils, while the '90-'07 use 2 wires from the single pick-up coil. A search on here using my screen name and pick-up coil will get you pictures . Here's the 5-wire one.

Neat 1970's paint on a Norton Commando

Dated 1976, Roach Studio product. I am a fan of this style, Roach was in OH. The paint is from the Midwest school of painting, Ron Finch is another practitioner, here's a van and that's Ron, the little guy. I've been to his shop in MI, and have spoken w/him at Daytona Bike Week. Ron...

    Wiring Upgrade from battery terminals

Well, all those look like decent upgrades, though I don't know that we need to do those unless you were adding circuits, or adding a relay for the headlight or for some accessory, like a cellphone or driving lights. Take a look at Eastern Beaver online, they have good stuff, including add-on...

    Wiring Upgrade from battery terminals

This is an excellent time to show us your 'search' function skills. You can find many threads on each one of those topics. A MOSFET R/R is a good replacement. Use that in the search term, MOSFET. Could you post the links to the posts you turn-up? On the third point you raised, I doubt you...

Use the search function to find info on subjects that are of interest to you. The shop manual: https://ia800204.us.archive.org/14/items/printermanual-yamaha-vmax-vmx12-service-manual/yamahavmaxvmx12-service-manual.pdf Your year has most of the 'major' yearly upgrades to the starter, the...

    Sissy bar material/surface finish

You need to be sure that the shop leaves it in the solution long enough to make the process work. If they don't give it enough time, the material removal will be insufficient and you will not be happy with the uneven results. Once the de-plating by electrolysis is done, you can polish it with...

    Sissy bar material/surface finish

If you take it to a chrome shop, they do the reverse-process, which will remove the chrome. Chrome, nickel, copper to return to the aluminum factory finish, Polish/paint to your desire. I have done the reverse-chrome removal on scoops which turned out OK.

1st Gen V-Max 1997 Canadian VMax with 90k miles - Still running strong

Oh now that looks nice & clean, I like a stock-appearance VMax. Still bad to the bone.

    Bad pickup coil?

Issues dealing with wonky electrical operation, I look at several things, one being how strong is the battery? A second, is are the grounds clean and tight for the harness's various points? When dealing with some function that goes through the switch pods, most often if they have problems, it...

    Introduction

Those tires look like somebody threw on a new pair of OEM equivalent tires as they look brand new to me. Of course the date code on the tire will tell the truth.

Haha, yes, the order was being discussed.

Carburetor Boots - If you never replaced them, check this out.

That's when you want to try using a can of carburetor starting fluid on the boots while the engine is running and if the RPMs pick up you've found a leak.

    Big Blue Motorcycle Lift

The website has some decent products. Unfortunately there's no way to know without actually physically trying the lift. From seeing the other big bikes that it's capable of lifting you would think that it would work but you don't know if there's any interference at the lifting points until you...
