    engine case swap

AFAIK yes a swap is possible but the pick-up coils are different. 2 on the '86 & 1 on the '94. The generator rotor is different to account for that. Wire harness is different also. The gauges cluster may have a difference also. Do a site search for that information.

Cannot rev past 6500 RPM under load

MaxMidnight is right on the Deoxit, Kroll is a Liquid Wrench/PB Blaster type product penetrating oil. Acetone & ATF mixed 50/50% is also an effective penetrant. I use a small tool to pop loose the connectors from the nylon male/ female blocks to be able to sand them shiny bright if they are...

    new member needs advice

A MOSFET r/r is a good one. There are many threads on here about the mosfet regulator rectifier. I suggest using the search function and see what you come up with that's probably the quickest way to get information. Also try Eastern Beaver company for male and female connectors and other...

    What is this?

Whatever the OEM valve guide is for its length, it's not uncommon to have it protrude into the intake or exhaust tunnels. Some people cut-off the valve guide to reduce or to eliminate the intrusion, and to make less resistance to volumetric airflow. in the passages. That's more-of a racing...

1983 Honda V65 Starter button. Any help in my 11 year quest to find one would be appreciated.

Billet bike button! From another forum: Around this time I remembered that I had some 3/8" Al rod left over from another project. And that Al machines so easy I could probably chuck it in the drill press and file it down to what I needed. So here is the prototype before I shortened the...

How to: Fix your Vmax's low voltage or charging problems

Here's one I got in about a minute using 'search the internet for this image,; by right-clicking on the schematic I sent you in this post. Note that this is the 1985-'89 diagram and the pick-up lead is 5 wires. The 5 pick-up coil leads: black red & white orange green & white grey

How to: Fix your Vmax's low voltage or charging problems

Sorry as to where that was sourced, I cannot recall. For things like that I usually google a specific word group, trying to narrow the search results. Something like '1985 Yamaha VMax wiring diagram' and then sort through the chaff until I find the best rendition. #1 is the colors make it an...

1983 Honda V65 Starter button. Any help in my 11 year quest to find one would be appreciated.

You should either buy a new/used pod containing that, or have a machinist make one for you, or check-out some lesser Honda of similar vintage, as the button is probably identical. https://www.jdpower.com/motorcycles/1984/honda/vintage-motorcycles ebay should have tons of Honda parts of that...

    Introduction and Quick Question

You may enjoy it even-more if you get that Kerker 4/1 or a Star Rider Performance 4/1, (the new UFO) and a Stage 7 Dynojet kit, or a Morley's Muscle ([email protected]) Jet Kit, a set of HH front caliper pads from a known manufacturer, along with stainless steel brake lines for the front. That...

How to: Fix your Vmax's low voltage or charging problems

'85-'89 bikes used two pick-up coils. The 1990-'07 bikes used one. The '85-'89 bikes have five wires from the two pick-up coils. The 1990-'07 bikes take two wires. The cdi box is different, and the wire harness too, The rotor is different for the electrical stator/rotor assembly.

V-Max Speed Wobble (ran it up to 115mph and...)

Post #251 of this thread mentions using radial tires. I don't know of any radial tire for motorcycles which is a high-number profile such as our bikes have for a bias-ply tire, from the factory. Ours is a 90-series, bias ply. That means it's a much-taller tire than any radial motorcycle tire...

    Gas cap removal if stuck

I recently started working on one of the fleet, to make it safely operational. It's been sitting for years. I had help from my friend who owns a shop, and we got it running on an auxiliary gas tank. There was a problem with the bike's gas tank. The ignition key wouldn't turn the 90 degrees...
