What did you do to your Vmax today? Part 2

The yss shocks aren't as-good as stock I would suspect for the price, as you said, 'what do you expect?' I've read there's a guy who takes the yss shocks and who re-builds them better than the factory does, building them new. A bit of internet sleuthing and I'm sure that someone can find the...

    EFI conversion on a Gen-1

I think those pieces in you have serial numbers. Glad you didn't have lingering issues. Also glad you're OK to resume riding. Many people would be interested in the cost to do their own installations.

Good job, and thanks for the description and your solution, and the pics.

What did you do to your Vmax today? Part 2

The sidewinder exhaust is a mainstay on drag-oriented bikes. That's the 1st time I can recall seeing one on a VMax. I'm not a dragstrip attendee as the closest 1/4-mile is now about 250 miles away, Bradenton FL. W. Palm Beach is now a warehouse complex, more $ to be made.

    Michigan meet up

The museum is definitely a destination where you can spend a whole day going through all the different buildings. The variety of things you can see is simply amazing. You can see the engine GM put into a WW II tank. You can see an airplane powered by a Ford Model A engine, the Pietenpol. You...

Nice & clean, are you going to be riding it to Hickory Corners/Gilmore Car Museum (MI) on Sept. 7?

Every light in the house is on

Suggestions: Check your grounds. They need to be shiny-bright. And tight. One main one by the oil filler cap, a couple others, smaller gauge, at the faux tank latch which also contains the fuel pump. Use the chart for others. You may have corrosion in one or more of your light sockets. You...

Hi Tim, how are things in Palm Beach County?

    Frustrated with idle

Well, you found it, and it didn't cost anything to fix. Perseverance. Using starting fluid on the rubber donuts for the airbox/carbs and the carbs/VBoost will reveal loose or otherwise leaking boots. Don't forget the tiny thin O-rings between the cyl head and the VBoost aluminum manifold. If...

I use water-soluble gel, like KY jelly or a generic equivalent, a light schmear on the inside of the boots and around the metal spigots. Vaseline also works. You don't need much! Here's a way I have done the 'seating' of the carburetors, an appropriate term for my method...

    Clutch slave cylinder replacement

Glad you got it taken care-of. That Amazon 'bench-bleeder' syringe is the correct type to use, not the ones with a twist-on fitting (Luer-lock) instead of the tapered tip.

Well, you could try Sean Morley's Traveling Box of Electrical Parts. You replace one at a time of the electrical components until you have found your solution, and you pay for that one piece and send the Traveling Box to the next customer on the list. The 'pulse coil' I assume you're referring...

    Oil leak from carburetors?

Maybe your oil hose to the airbox is off? It sends oil vapor to the air filter box.

    Frustrated with idle

OK, good news that you persevered to find that. I think there's a lot of satisfaction in getting a bike running, and taking care of issues, to get it safely operational and running well.

    Frustrated with idle

Back in '74, my neighbor had a Triumph Trident 750 triple. There was a famous factory Trident 750 triple, "Slippery Sam," named because of a tendency of the racer to expel oil from the crankcase. It won multiple races over the early 1970's, and including the Isle of Man and the French endurance...
