    EMC Shocks for Gen 2

Thank you for posting. I'm looking at upgrading the suspension for the gen 2. What are you running in the front? I'm SERIOUSLY thinking cartridges. https://www.redracingparts.com/catalog/en/motorcycle/matrisforkcartridges/yamaha/vmaxabscarbon2009

    Bad pickup coil?

On the 86 it was on the left side just to the left of the ecu right there on that tray. I believe that it had 4 wires on it. On the earlier models, by taking it out, the bike would start, but you were disabling a safety system. On the later ones, 90 and up, if they relay went bad you just had to...

    Bad pickup coil?

It could also be the sidestand relay. That happened 1 time on my 86. Crank but no start. I have an ignitech ecu in it, and it would tell me that the pickup coil was still firing. Are you trying to crank it in gear, or in neutral? Clutch pulled in or out? Side stand up or down?

Quad Lock - Phone Mount and Wireless Charger

Thank you for the write up. I really like the quadlock. I have it on the gen 1 and 2. I can personally say that my phone has stayed in place at 150+ with the quadlock. My old ram mount couldn't say that.

    Diaphragms and needle...damn hole!!

Especially when I was changing a lot of needles and tuning, that's what I would do. Spin it in place, and after it fell into place, then tighten everything down.

It can be a carb issue. It's easy to get junk caught up in a various circuit. You could try a shotgun, and see if something is caught up in the pilot jet. I've had better luck with taking out PAJ2 to get a full blast of air into the pilot jet circuit. https://vmax.lvlhead.com/tips/shotgun.htm

Random electrical buzzing/humming while in 2nd+

Is it moving just when you get it up to that rpm? That means that it's set up to just move at a certain rpm, instead of like the factory set up.....100% throttle, at a certain rpm, like 6500 to 7000 rpm. The ignitech set up is very versatile. You can make it engage at what every rpm, and what...

Random electrical buzzing/humming while in 2nd+

Normally the vboost is set up 1 of 2 ways, with it to come on at part throttle, which means that it will come on in every gear at a certain rpm, or full throttle. Do you know what yours is set up at with the Ignitech? Now that being said, the only issue that I've ever had was a small bit of...

    Carb synch issue

Exactly. The jets don't wear out. A lot of the brass can become damaged from being taken out....put in with the incorrect screw drivers, or the threads will become damaged from being mis threaded. The correct size tools are worth their weight in gold. The rubber parts will become dried out...

    I want a VMAX!

Think of them this way, the Gen 1 is a 70 hemi Cuda, the Gen 2 is a dodge Viper.

What did you do to your Vmax today? Part 2

I used them front and rear on the 07. I rode with no weights vs weights, same speed, same areas of town, and did the trips about 30 mins apart. Just long enough to put the beads in. I didn't notice any smoothness in the bike, but did notice less vibration in the mirrors, so they did work. I've...

Progressive Shocks Dilemma Need suspension Guru's!

Sorry about not replying sooner. I actually don't know. They were actually in a bunch of parts that I bought. The original owner probably bought the heavy spring because he specd out a lot of stuff, and he was about 240 lbs. They have always felt very good whether it's me, or me and the wife...
