    Leaking Oil From Cylinder Head

Oh! It was wet! I thought we were talking about a shield on a manual transmission pressure plate!

    Leaking Oil From Cylinder Head

As long as it didn't rattle, why not? For once, I have to confess I might have resorted to something similar. Frankly, in Arizona with infrequent rain, I probably wouldn't have bothered to do anything.

    FL Valkirie $2k

Dirt cheap. Beware of neglect. Can get expensive on a Valk. (Drive splines, smog lines (pair valves) fork seals, wheel bearings). There are definitely things to look out for. Just sold my 97 to a guy in Minnesota. Damn near cried as it was loaded.

No offense DV4, just not everybody is looking for cheap, temporary shortcuts.

    Not the bolts. No need.

    Potential starter issue

It's not a major job, but you have to be a bit of a contortionist. Peak under the front header pipes and you'll see the starter. Judge for yourself! If it were mine, my diagnostics would consist of hitting the starter again and seeing what happens. They do occasionally make disturbing noises.

They are pricey, I'm not going to lie.

    High RPM

From my old hot rodding days, I recall a (perhaps arbitrary) threshold of 3500 ft per minute mean piston speed running cast pistons. Juggling numbers in a piston speed calculator using the 66 mm stroke of the Vmax, something just under 8500 RPMs puts you at that level of piston speed. I know...

    Suddenly no electric start

My best guess would be the starter button. Might be worth the time to disassemble and clean. You could spend more time chasing the missing 12v to the solenoid, but I'll bet it's a grody button.

    Leaking Oil From Cylinder Head

Don’t do this. If you want to fix it, fix it right. If you want to guess at how long your Kluge might or might not work, then follow this recommendation.

    Honda CBX100 ...

Yes, and it doesn’t look like the rear upper mounts are even utilized in this installation. The pictures are not perfect, but it sure looks like they’re only using the leading mounts. If so, I’d be a little nervous about those two blocks of aluminum holding that monster at bay. The big six...

    Leaking Oil From Cylinder Head

The photos above indicate leaking of the valve cover gasket, not the head gasket. Not exactly a walk in the park, but a bit more straightforward than pulling the heads. Common problem on aging first generation Vmax. And yes, replace gaskets and the grommets.

Not paying $200 for the GoldWing.

Thank you gentlemen. My son made it very clear to me several years ago that if I were to sell my collection of motorcycles, he wanted this one. Unfortunately, that has begun to happen and this one will be his. I’m OK with that.

Not paying $200 for the GoldWing.

My ‘78. Bought it fully Vetterized. It has been pretty much like this since 2013. Ran dual webers for a couple of seasons, added the CB900 fender, and have had the viper faring on and off a couple of times. I probably get more comments and eyeballs on this thing than any motorcycle I’ve...

Not paying $200 for the GoldWing.

First time I ever heard anybody say that. Never had a problem with mine not counting the stator. Did the poor boy conversion on it. Also for gl1000 users... Like myself ... The 84 clutch plate is a direct bolt on for the 1000. That allows hydraulic conversion. I have all the bits, never...

Motorcycle Wanted I need an opinion!

There is no way in hell I would pay 4500 for that motorcycle. Do what you think is right, but he is way off. I am not a super Trapp exhaust fan, looks like there’s a super bike bar on it, has higher miles, and there’s absolutely nothing special about the motorcycle.

Not paying $200 for the GoldWing.

I had an ‘84 1200. First year for the 1200 and had a lot 84 only parts. That was frustrating. I still have my 78 Café wing. Love that bike. Can ever sell it. Besides, my son wants it. He’ll get it. As for the one in the ad above, he’d have to pay me to take it off his hands. Looks like it’s...

    Master cyl options?

If we liken the displacement of a master cylinder to that of a cylinder and an engine, and we quickly realize that displacement is a function of both bore and stroke. So, the length of the stroke is going to also have an affect. Not sure I’ve ever heard that metric applied to master cylinders...
