The screw is a magnet. I catches all the metal shavings from normal use of the tranny and anything else that a magnet will pick up. You can usually get most of the metal off without removing the screw itself........

It's the bolt that has the screw in it. Make sure the filter you bought has a new O ring included. When you remove the filter canister take a pic so you will know how to put it back on. Be careful not to loose the flat washer on the canister bolt when you remove the old filter. I think Sean...

+1 on what Steve said and did. I would have a stator gasket on the way just in case. I haven't had this problem yet and will probably tack weld mine also if I ever do.

Make sure you aren't screwing the metal tips on the plug. If you use them the cops are not connected solidly to the plug ends.

The guy at the mechanic shop over tightened it which could lead to premature Brg failure.

Check all 4 carbs to make sure the choke plungers are all the way in. Something may have loosened on the choke linkage, not allowing the plunger to be pushed all the way to it's stop. Check all carbs to insure the caps are on the sync ports, front left has a hose that may have slit or popped off...
