    Check the exhaust pipe on that cylinder to see if it get hot by spraying some water on it if the engine is already up to temp. If it's cold you can lightly touch it with your finger within seconds after start up. Better if you have an infrared heat gun though. Sounds like the carbs are way out...

    These are the later Vmax exhausts with the opening 31mm exhaust port. 85'S had 32mm EXHAUST OUT. The 85 Did not meet emissions noise level so they increased the intake manifold size to get the HP back to 145. here is a listing of the later model which will work just fine on the 85 with just...

    Rear fender is missing and the stock exhaust cans also. You might ask the owner if he has those parts while making the purchase. I would say that is a very fair price considering your location.

    Volt meters are very cheap and almost a must if you are going to work on your charging system. Harbor Freight has them, Ebay has lots of listings on cheap inexpensive ones also. From your symptoms , I would say your charging system is unhealthy. Buy a volt meter and follow this thread to the T...

    Just a thought, and something to try. If you have Hid lighting or any other type of electrical gadgets coming off the + side of wiring, it may contain a capacitor feeding the circuit when the kill switch is turned off. Just a shot in the dark and I may be way out in left field on this...

    Lights dim when using turn signals or brakes.

    I would resolder the crimp fix and follow the brown wire for pinched spot toward leading to the front of the bike. If any of your volt meters have a sharp point on them probe the brown wire up front and see if the voltage drops when you turn on blinkers,,ect.
