hella horn wiring diagram and relay question

Hey Tony, I don't have an actual diagram but it's pretty simple - I'll try to explain: - yes you can use the relay in your picture - connect the wire currently going to your horn to 85, and 86 to the earth - connect a wire from your battery + to a fuse, and then on to 30 on your relay -...

    Reserve problems

I have a very similar problem - reserve light no longer comes on and I eventually run out of gas. And yes, my fuel light is working - comes on with the oil light when I test with the starter button. Thoughts?

Can't get clutch to pump up like it should. What to do?

You can get kits to refit both the M/C and S/C - it's worth doing on an '89. Also in my experience, normal bleeding (as in brakes) has never worked for me on a vmax, I found I needed to reverse-bleed (push fluid through the cracked open nipple on the S/C using a syringe) to get all the air out...

    Anybody ever have a cx500?

I had an old CX500 in the UK many years ago. It ran beautifully for a number of years, until a mechanical seal failed and allowed coolant into the oil. I repaired that and it ran again just fine for a long while. Then one day it simply refused to go. Weird electrical problem. I tried everything...

    fuel pressure loss question

Yea I'll check the floats wet first, but I have a feeling they may be high so will most prolly need to get in there to adjust.. For the heatshield do you mean the big black plastic one atop the rear cylinders? If so yes it is there.

    fuel pressure loss question

Hmm nothing all that conclusive then eh? I will tear into the fuel pump and check those diaphragms. Oil level is fine - no fuel seeping in there. I'll also check my fuel bowl levels - I kinda need to tear into and clean up the carbs anyway as I haven't done it for a few years now. Will check...

    fuel pressure loss question

Hi all, sorry I haven't been around much - still riding my Max and loving it just not as often as I'd like! I have a question about the fuel pressure and especially the loss of it: I know that on a normal max, if it's left to sit for a few days, then upon switching the ignition back on there...

What did you do to your Vmax today? Part 2

Finally got my Max all back together and on the road after fixing 2nd gear. Also added solid motor mounts and a pair of wavy front rotors. I'm a happy camper now - it runs great again :)

    Stoopid oil leak!!

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I've fixed it :) What happened was somehow the new gasket moved inward at the bottom of the cover, so there was no seal. I reseated it and added a tiny amount of black sealant, and voilà - no more leaks! So now I am HAPPY! I have completely reassembled...

    Stoopid oil leak!!

So having replaced by bad 2nd gear, I've put everything back together and filled up with oil, only to find out I have a bad leak at the bottom center of the alternator cover :bang head::bang head: The engine runs great though, which is happy news. Haven't tried the gears yet as I'm rebuilding...

    Horn problems

Follow the horn wire - it's bound to be stripped somewhere and shorting. Also check your diodes block, things can get pretty funky if it goes wrong.

    2005 cucstom vmax for sale

This is a really lovely bike, but if you want to make any of your money back (and you have the original parts) you'll be much better off selling all the upgrades separately and the bike as close to original as you can - '05 models can go for a little more than others being the 'anniversary...

    bleeding the clutch

I had exactly the same problem when I first tried doing my '86. There was absolutely no way it could be bled like the brakes. The ONLY way that worked for me was reverse bleeding - that is get a large syringe, a hose that fits snuggly on the syringe and the bleed nipple, and then crack the...

    bleeding the clutch

I was completely unable to bleed my clutch like I would do with brakes when I tried. The only way that worked for me was indeed forcing the fluid back up the line with a syringe through the bleed nipple. Make sure the bleed nipple is cracked open enough, and also make sure the handlebar...

    Cases are split..

Thanks. I finally found a local transmission place you can do it for me - should be all sorted by tomorrow. fingers crossed!

    Cases are split..

It's an idea - I may have better luck finding a big puller like that than a press. If I use a press though, can I use the edges of the big nut, or the bearing, or the middle gear as a thrust surface? I assume the press will have to push on the end of the shaft (like in 2Stang's picture), so...

    Cases are split..

Wow that looks like a great way to do it! Out of interest, what is your bottom clamp made of? Are the two parts bolted to the middle gear something you fabricated?
