If I was going for a full system I'd go with a Marks 4-into-2.
That being said, since I didn't want to re-jet I went with Supertrapp Slip-ons and I LOVE them.
IMO they match the bikes lines and original style perfectly so they look and they sound Great too !!!!!
I run stock size wheels/tires so my rear wheel offset is whatever is from the factory.
I do know that the 18" rims require a bit more offset, a lot of guys actually move the rear license plate over to make it look like the rear tire is more centered than it is.
From what I can find: "RC...
Straight highway riding I have gotten up to 110 miles before the reserve light came on BUT when riding hard around town it has come on as low as 75-80 miles.
email Sean Morley ([email protected]) and show him that pic.
IFRC that is just a guide/guard and can be bent back into shape, But he is MUCH more familiar with the interior of a Vmax motor and will know for sure what is possible/necessary.
I have the stock length Progressive brand springs in my 2000 with 10 wt. Maxima racing fork fluid and the difference from the soft stock springs is amazing.
The Progressive springs are much smoother on the highway (I can actually see what's in my mirrors now), virtually eliminate brake dive and...
Sorry to hear you toasted 2nd gear BUT I'm glad to see you talked to Sean and are going to replace it, I love to see someone fix their Max when possible.
Sean will always steer you right.
Garrett,
I see you are near Utica.
There are a few of us in the Buffalo/Finger Lakes/Rochester area so if you're close we'll have to get together for a ride sometime if you are ever in our neck of the woods.
I own a 2000 Vmax (with about 30k miles on it) and still have my original rotors on it.
They still look and work great.
My buttons turn by hand but Not as easily as in the videos I'd watched.
Watch these video's about cleaning rotor buttons:

It depends on the resistance of the COPs you have.
You need to aim for 3 Ohms (to match the OEM resistance).
Most Cops are 1.3 to 1.6 Ohms so 1.5 ohm/25 or 30 Watt resistor will usually work.

EBC FA160HH (1993 - 2007 Vmax) pads up front help A LOT.
I also use an EBC FA88HH pad for my rear brake.
Sean Morley at [email protected] has them or you can just Google them.
^ All the above is good advice.
With ANY slip-on exhaust a Stage 7 kit will make the bike run worse not better.
The problem is that the OEM head pipes are very restrictive, so a FULL aftermarket exhaust is needed in conjunction with the Stage 7 kit.
With Cobra slip-ons (or any slip-ons) the...

I installed the stock length Progressive Springs and cut the PVC spacers provided by Progressive to 9.37" (9 - 3/8") and filled them to 4.8" down as shown in Sean's video and I am very happy that setup.
So I'd definitely cut the spacers down to the recommended length and then check the sag...
