    Cops, ignition box

Have the battery load tested, most auto part stores will do it for free. Mine last one (UB12180) read 12.7-12.9 off and 13.5 (1k) - 14.3 (2500K) but when load tested showed a bad cell which was causing my hard start issue. The old bad R/R may have cooked your battery.

    More line splitting

^ I'm with Blax, on this one. I was in San Diego in the Navy in the mid 80's and in a car the ride from San Diego to LA could take from 2 hrs to 8 hrs depending on the day and the time of day. On motorcycles we could always make it in 2 hrs or so and we were Not riding crazy just splitting...

My Vmax tipped over on me today :(

^ all I can say is I hope that isn't the case. I have no idea what went on over there But I do know that we have multiple long time members here that have been Banned over there for very little cause. And I like to think that the members here would NOT resort to some of he BS that goes on over...

My Vmax tipped over on me today :(

eaglepi, as a Gen 1 owner and completely un-affiliated with that Star Vmax forum. I can honestly say that I believe Jim (aka Jeff aka jfeagins) was just kidding around with you. Just like I just messed with him by calling him Jeff, that's a long running inside joke here. Someone called him Jeff...

    Clutch never fully disengages

^ I can only guess but I think that 1st steel plate on the older models must have been intended to add a bit more slip to smooth out the shifting.

    Clutch never fully disengages

^ Blax, That's because yours is an 1985: http://www.boats.net/parts/search/Yamaha/Motorcycle/1985/V%20MAX%201200%20-%20VMX12N/CLUTCH/parts.html and his is 2001: http://www.boats.net/parts/search/Yamaha/Motorcycle/2001/V-MAX%20-%20VMX1200N/CLUTCH/parts.html They did used to have different parts...

    Clutch never fully disengages

Yes that was the problem, even after I put the bolts in there was still a gap between the pressure plate and first friction. And as shown in the pictures posted by Mike, the dots need to be properly aligned.

    Clutch never fully disengages

No I mean with No bolts in it did it make contact with the first friction plate like in my picture above ? Mine was about 1/16" away from the first friction plate so I had to rotate the pressure plate until it was touching the first friction plate. Then I installed the bolts and yes the bolts...

    Clutch never fully disengages

Are you 100% sure the pressure plate was put back on correctly. If it doesn't go on tight to the outside friction plate that will cause issues too. I had that happen when I switched to a Barnett 6 spring friction plate. I pulled it off and rotated it until it was tight to the first friction pate...

    Clutch never fully disengages

The outside 7 OEM friction plates are all the same (#9 - 26H-16307-01-00 ) and the one farthest in is the 1/2 friction plate (#7 - 26H-16321-01-00 ). I'd guess his was different in that guide because it was from a 1985 Vmax before they discontinued the old part numbers and started using the same...

    VMAX Saddlebags

Look through this tread: http://v4musclebike.com/forums/showthread.php?t=13750&highlight=luggage There are a few pictures of bags that are mounted on the backrest. I personally use Cortech throw over sport bags: http://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/cortech-super-20-saddlebags

    handlebar swap

I am used to the Stock bars and I like them But I have a set of Sean's Super bike bars that I may try out. Drag bars make me lean farther forward than I want even with risers but a Lot of guys Love them. So it really depends on what you like.

Final Drag Race This Year - Hungary

Good Luck !!!! What rear tire are you running ? If you're running a Shinko TM 230 and feel like it's breaking loose when warm I'd definitely check your clutch. It's highly unlikely that a warm Shinko will break loose on you. Put the bike against a wall and throttle up in 4 and 5th gear and see...

What did you do to your Vmax today? Part 2

KJ, If I ever get back up to AK (I have family in Anchorage, Kenai and Homer) I really need to come by and see your Max in person. You've done a great job on it and I've watched your posts and seen it transition from almost stock to it's current bagger like state.

    Will these work ?

I don't see why not as long as the boots are spaced correctly for the carbs. And obviously you'll need the air restrictors that come with a Stage 7 kit for use with the pod filters.
