    Suppossed carb rebuild

Think I got ripped of from my local MC shop ( Del Amo Motorsports} Got the bike back from a supposed total carb rebuild. Bike still backfiring through the right muffler so I'm taking it back Tuesday. They saved the parts but I do not have them in hand yet. Looking over the invoice I see...

want to quiet it down, muffler sugestions

I would leave the aftermarket system on if it was just up to me and I lived in the country. The houses here are 6' away from each other and these things are loud. There are many other mod's to the bike that I am doing or have been done, so the mod monkey is alive and well...

What should a carb rebuild cost from a dealer?

Called the dealer and passed along some the comments from you guys and mentioned the Vmax forum. Told them I wanted the old parts and wanted stock jets put back in, since I am changing back to stock exhaust. He sweetened the deal by saying they will install the stock exhaust for me free, so...

What should a carb rebuild cost from a dealer?

That's parts and labor, removal and re-installation. I have a sync tool and used it, but it needed more than everything I threw at it--- Carb spray, seafoam, plugs, fresh fuel and filter, air/fuel adjustment, fuel bowl drain. I've had it two months and just got tired of dicken with it...

What should a carb rebuild cost from a dealer?

Took my 2005 max to the dealer finally. Could not get it to run right since I bought it. Anyway, to make a long story short--- dealer says I need a carb rebuild. They want $800. Does that sound right ? Seem way high to me but I want to be done with this so I said go ahead. Did I get screwed ?

want to quiet it down, muffler sugestions

It does not have the stock head pipes. The centerstand had to be removed for the pipes to fit. The attachment points for the centerstand are still there. Head pipes look like they are welded all the way to the muffler. I'll post some pics next week.

want to quiet it down, muffler sugestions

The bike is in the shop right now, Ill post a pic next week. What would the springs be for if not to help hold on the muffler ? Any after market slip on's that are quiet ?

want to quiet it down, muffler sugestions

I just bought a 2005 Vmax and it has custom exhaust. I do not know what type of mufflers are on it. They are can type, one on each side. The guy I bought it from wrapped them in a carbon fiber tape, so no name. he said there was no name on them before he wrapped them. They are about 10 inches...

    Basic carb tuning

OK, followed your method exactly today. Problem is, on the right side (carb3 & 4) I can turn the A/F screws all the way in and the engine does not stumble. There exhaust on this side is also much weaker than the left. Engine has been running rough for almost two months now. Its better than it...

need a good V-Max mechanic in Southern California

I'm about to give up on fixing my 2005 V-Max myself. You guys have been great on helping me with my front forks, read wheel and stuck float in #1 carb. Only had the bike about 6 weeks and have been trying to get it to run smooth. It has 11,000 miles and, at least on the outside, looks...

    Pea shooter

Just the first year (83) had the cam problem, and yes, it was poor grade cam material. The 84 and 85 upgraded the cam and they did not have any more problems. I had an 83 and it did have the cam problem, many of the 83's did and Honda did a recall and fixed it for free.( for the original owner)
