Lots of bikes have air injection system, pumping air into exhaust to get exhaust gas burnt better. Common fix for popping is to disable the system. I don't know if Vmax has this system, ask Sean or Firemedic, they know everything.

I don't remember, it worked fine.

Popping is sign of lean mix, you can have 2 problems, well, considering age of bike, it probably has 102 problems (like my bikes)

Comparing to new OEM or weak old spring?

File part of lever pushing piston.

Maybe you have aftermarket lever. Post picture or compare to ebay levers. Buy adjustable levers.

I bought Grand Cherokee 4.7 with brand new crank(never started engine). Guy installed timing chain wrong and messed up valves. 4.7 engine needs special tool to install timing chain, it took me awhile to figure out how to install it w/o this tool.

There is electronic relay(4 pins), used for Lincoln Navigator air suspension. It is good for gazillion amps. I would try to install it. But OEM has 6 pins, I think, so first we need to figure out how each pin works black ground r/w ign plus pulse ground gray from ign. r/green input green stops...

Connect voltmeter to input and output relay wires and check voltage.

bad fuel pump can suck too much current. Check resistance specs.

I bought Virago with "bad charging system", it turned out, one wire lost insulation and was touching cover. 2" of electrical tape increased bike value about 4x. It was 920, very popular for modders, buyer didn't even start engine! I fixed wire for nothing!!!:mad:
