Very clean modded 2009 Gen 2

Good luck with the sale at that price it shouldn't sit around for long.

What did that involve? My own experience is that if the bike is left standing for any length of time (say 4+ months, then it's carbs off, key block off, pilot jets out and ensure the hole through them is clear.

2006 1200 no spark on cyl. 3 possibly also no fuel.

In which case I have to query if the trigger for coil 3 is telling the truth. I would connect an oscilloscope to see the signal, it switches to low to fire the coil. Below is a photo of a multimeter with oscilloscopes connected to coil during cranking (I just happen to have taken this...

2006 1200 no spark on cyl. 3 possibly also no fuel.

When you say fire, you mean no spark seen in the plug gap?

    Long range fuel tank

you wouldn't want to be near if that bike came down on its side. the vmax tank is quite well better protected within the frame. PS Thinking about it, I have to say although the larger capacity fuel tanks are very expensive, they are the safest option - if you consider that they may stop...

What did you do to your Vmax today? Part 2

I've not had to use this method but from what i've read (in other forums) is that once the bead cools, it shrinks to pull on the race thus lossening it a bit. Seems plausible.

    Am I missing something?

What does that mean? Did you take the jet block off, remove the pilot jet and the other jet to see if the holes through then are clear? It sounds like you have a spark, therefore look for a fuelling issue. Also is fuel getting to the carb bowls - easy test is to undo the drain screw on each...

2006 1200 no spark on cyl. 3 possibly also no fuel.

so to summarise - no spark on cylinder 3 - using noid - this is a LED connected to the coil trigger - you can see coil 3 trigerring - swapping over coil 1 to position 3 gives no spark on 3 yet you measured coil 1 LT and HT resistance to be in spec and coil 1 fires hence known to be good That's...

    Am I missing something?

it'll run better if all 4 cylinders are firing. surely an easy test is to check the temperature of the headers? if you don't have a thermometer, then spraying a few drops of water and comparing how quickly they evaporate would be a very rough guide? if you find 1 & 3 (front 2) aren't firing...

2006 1200 no spark on cyl. 3 possibly also no fuel.

You've measured resistance of the LT coils (3 ohm), but how about HT coil resistance? If you cannot get to the front coils, then you can measure from the spark plug electrode. From memory that should be around 33 k ohm ( 14 k for coil, 10k for cap and 10k for the spark plug: both cap and...

Tow hitch for Gen 1 VMax?

^^^ how will that help? What is left turn stop? Basically you want to wire up trailer turn signal in parallel with bikes. Same for running light to illuminate registration plate, stop lamp and.

    Cranks but not starting

    Puzzled.

I don't know circuit diagram for the pick up but it seems there are 4 coils sharing the same ground (black) wire so resistance between black wire and the other wires is the same. It would be good if someone with a working pick up can confirm, but it does appear that yours has failed, unless...

    Puzzled.

To summarise. - front coils removed - presumably because trying to connect to the HT pin using aluminium foil did it not work? - all 4 ignition coils primary/secondary coil resistance is within spec. so no shorts or open circuit hence all coils appear to be good. - voltage at coils is 11.1 V -...

    Bigger calipers

Sumitomo 6 pot, direct fit to 93 on models, may need slightly longer brake hoses (+35mm) These were fitted to yamaha yzf750.

Another Shorai Battery dead in 9 months.

Dunno if yamaha is the highest quality but it'll be better than for example cheap Chinese knock off. So the question is, what killed the battery? Could it have been faulty? Probably not. I don't have one myself but've read mixed reviews of trickle chargers, some say they are the bees knees...

Won’t run smoothly at idle and up to 1/4 throttle

If you suspect it's not running on all cylinders, measuring the temperature of the headers will confirm this and identify which cylinder it is. Regarding cleaning the jets, you removed them from the jet block and ran wire through them so you know the hole is not blocked. You put on a stage...

    Battery drains when running

These can be bought from about £25 on ebay, and people have bought the cheap ones, some have had problems others not. Exactrep are the go to place for Vmax expertise. The sell one for £92 or £104 (heavy duty). http://exactrep.com/acatalog/ELECTRICAL_MAINTENANCE.html

    Puzzled.

Even better if you have an oscilloscope ;P This is orange wire with engine idling, you can see the LT coil being switched. When the engine is running, it's very obvious the LED is flashing.... but of course you don't need it then.

    Puzzled.

Something is not working. Some more things to try. Fit the ignition lead to the coils and hand tighten the grommet . Fit cap and plug. Measure resistance between red/white and central plug electrode. Should be 33k ohm (13. 5k coil + 10k cap + 10 k plug). Refit rear coils and plug in...
