    Vmax Gen2 Cruise control

Companies like Corbin and Exactrep make kits to lower the passenger foot pegs for the 2nd gens. This is because the OEM pegs are located pretty high and far back to be comfortable for most passengers. It is likely your bike has one of these kits installed, but also still has the original pegs on...

    Vmax Gen2 Cruise control

Hey Jim, Thank you for the update! I feel yah. Though it would be cool, it seems like developing a legitimate cruise control solution would just cost a little more than it is probably worth. - Nick

Looks very nice! Did you fabricate brackets?

    Sissy Bar

I've also been looking at this offering from Exactrep. It comes in black only but also has the option of a luggage rack. It appears to require removal of the trip peace altogether. Anybody have any experience with one of these setups...

    Sissy Bar

For anyone who was curious, I still haven't purchased a sissy bar yet. I just bought a tractor so I need to save up a little cash again, but I did find some more info on these pieces in the meantime. I found three other websites selling what appears to be the same set up. The second website...

    Fault Code No. 12

I feel you. I always like to come back and update posts with solutions if I find them. I hope all this info will continue to help people in the future. My bike had a little over 21k miles when I first started experiencing the issue. I bought my bike used with about 20k miles on it not long...

    Sissy Bar

Thanks you for the info Tom! That's great to know it's a legit peace. Thank you for the offer too! Your sounds like the options I was thinking about going with too, but I'm not sure if I want to go with the black or chrome finish yet.

    Sissy Bar

Good day all, I'm looking to install a sissybar/backrest on my Vmax (2009). I came across this one that I like the look of being sold by a company called EuropCustom. It comes in two different heights, chrome or powder coat black, and with an optional luggage rack. Just curious if anyone out...

My 2nd Gen Is Having Carb Issues!

There are two main ways to tell if you bike is affected under either recall. Look through the recalls listed on the NHTSA's website (2009 YAMAHA VMX17 | NHTSA) Call Yamaha and provide them your VIN number (1-800-962-7926) More info on these is in the prior posts. As far as the two VIN number...

    Fault Code No. 12

Glad to hear that the information is making a difference! My bike is still starting perfectly and hasn't shown any signs of issue since the repair. Hope your issue is resolved too!

My 2nd Gen Is Having Carb Issues!

For guidance on how to clear fault codes you will want to see page 8-40 of the service manual. I have included it below for convivence. Diagnostic codes D:60 and D:61 are for viewing which fault codes are present. They will show both currently active and past fault codes. Diagnostic code D:62...

These were the results of my compression test, for reference.

My 2nd Gen Is Having Carb Issues!

I was gonna write post eventually, but I hadn't yet because I wanted to give it a little more time to make sure my issue is resolved. I replaced my sparkplugs about a week ago and since then I haven't had any more issues. But I've only drive about 50 miles since. The issue was pretty consistent...

My 2nd Gen Is Having Carb Issues!

Thank you for the info! I took a look at my frame and my bike has one mark punched on it at the end of VIN, none before it. I called up the number today and the assistant told me that my bike had one recall fixed on it, the oil pump one. When I asked about the wiring harness recall they told me...

My 2nd Gen Is Having Carb Issues!

Thanks for the advice! I checked the TPS following the instruction in the service manual (Section CHECKING THE THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR, Pg 8-137). My senor's resistance measured at 1.825 kΩ, within the 1.2–2.8 kΩ range the manual gives. I also checked that the TPS was adjusted properly...

My 2nd Gen Is Having Carb Issues!

Oh man! I messed up!! I'm so sorry! Idk who the moderators are but yes please move this to the Gen II section. But I do know it is fuel injected. The title was more of a gag. And no error codes, active or in the history.
  18. The Chicken Man

My 2nd Gen Is Having Carb Issues!

Obviously, the title is not exactly true, but that it is the best way I can describe my issue. So, I'm looking for some advice with an issue I started experiencing with my bike yesterday. My bike is a 2009 with about 22,000 miles. Notable modifications included a Voodoo exhaust, typical airbox...

    Gen.2 Neutral Position Sensor

I had a similar issue with my neutral switch (I believe it is referred to as a "gear position switch" in the service manual). Started with it not detecting/indicating neutral, then eventually it stopped detecting other gears too. I also noticed it was worse when the engine warm too. I tried...

    2nd to 3rd issue

I've also noticed my bike (a 2009 w/22k miles) doesn't like to go into 3rd gear sometimes, but only when I'm accelerating hard. It hasn't become a huge hinderance for me yet though, so I haven't taken any steps to determine cause or address the issue yet.
