    Bad pickup coil?

I’m trying to remember if a 92 still has a side stand relay. I’ll check when I’m done drinking lol

    Stumped: 1 cyl dead

My thoughts is if carb related, not a fuel jet problem. It would be running lean. Check float level, shot gun the air jets and see where that leaves you. Check for stuck choke plunger too. Otherwise, sounds like ignitor issue. If p/u coil was flaking out, it most likely would be both rear...

Can vboost can still be operational without the controller??

I see the vboost motor plgged in. You have an aftermarket ignition. If Ignitech, you can confirm by looking for a PC/VGA plug where a computer could be connected to. Mark

What did you do to your Vmax today? Part 2

I took the engine that's been down for 3 years due to a 2nd gear failure down to Sean's shop. He allowed me to help. I also got to see a great piece of history in Peewee's drag '85. There were some firsts with that bike for sure. Also included Jon Cornell's '09 that ran sub 10 second 1/4 miles...

What did you do to your Vmax today? Part 2

Reminds me of the old HMF’s.

Can vboost can still be operational without the controller??

Ignitech ignition doesn't require the controller . Perhaps you are hearing the fuel pump? The boost won't cycle w/o a controller when using the the stock ignition unit. The controller gets vacuum and rpm data from the ignition and uses that to open/close vboost valves. It also "senses" the...

    No spark - help

No, the regulator/rectifier is just to charge the battery. I don't think it's a side stand switch issue. It wouldn't turn over if that was causing no spark. It's probably the ignitor or p/u coil. Mark

    Motorcycle seat bolts thread issue

I don’t son’t use bolts. The middle latch and my butt are enough.

    Balance shaft delete?

Not that I’ve heard. Will need something to turn the water pump gear.

    Carb synch issue

Thanks for that. I see three choices for repair kits. An economy from K&L, one Parts Unlimited, and one from All Balls. https://www.partsgiant.com/motorcycle/fuel-systems?f=116151 Mark

    Carb synch issue

Yeah, saw that Kyle. He's been out of stock for awhile.. Fire-medic, nothing for Vmax. I found 18-4847 and it looks similar but isn't listed for a V-max...

    Carb synch issue

I've been looking for the K&L kits that @Fire-medic and @CaptainKyle have shown before. K&L website doesn't have that part number at all and haven't had much luck on Fleabay either. Mark

    Carb synch issue

Agree. I’ve seen some bad ones and worst was like brittle.

Plug cap cleaning, wire replacement service

I've been looking at getting new wires/caps from Amazon and then saw this thread. @Traumahawk, just curious if you are offering this service? Mark

Back from a long hiatus and needing ignitech help!

Yes, plug laptop into the unit and turn the key on. The software will then go green and say connected. There are 3 placees to review for vboost. Sensor tab, servo tab, and then you can test vboost functions in the test tab.

What did you do to your Vmax today? Part 2

It was a productive weekend with the wifey away! Rebuilding of the '99 progresses finally after a few years. Gas tank including inside cleaned by a radiator shop. Crank cases cleaned up and HD oil pump completed. Registered the '86 and installed Ignitech ignition. Cheers, Mark

im a new member that needs a little help with my 92 vmax

You can bypass the switch with a jumper at the connector. Check the switch (0 Ohm when up; infinite when down) with ignition off. Then with key on, kick stand up, check voltage at blue/yellow wire going into the switch. It should read 12 volts. I'd probably also do the same test with the neutral...

im a new member that needs a little help with my 92 vmax

Could be diode assembly and/or starting circuit cutoff relay. For the bike have ignition, needs to be in neutral OR if in gear, sidestand needs to be up. Mark

    engine case swap

As Far As I Know. That's fine. Cases are mated to the internals so if changing the cases, will need to re-do the plane bearings, etc. I don't think you need to worry about the final drive. Mark

    engine case swap

Yes, will need to re-size your plane bearings for the crank, rods, and balancer. Probably check clearances of transmission shafts and middle gear too. Mark
