OTEC Clear Engine Covers ? Opinions ?

Had them on my 2001, never had an issue and they draw attention like a 3-breasted supermodel.

What's the biggest thing you carried on your motorcycle?

Tastes change, I drink Corona now(without the lime, of course) after spending quite a bit of time in Mexico. Molson/Labatts preferences used to be a thing but not so much now. I remember a good friend who drank only Miller beer offered me one and I told him it tasted like corn. He replied...

84 bottles of Molson Canadian beer on a 2001 VMax.

    Front tire life.

Been my own exoerience with big street bikes that the rear usually wears out first. Never had the front wear out first. Check alignment/balancing issues and/or check to see if your front brakes/bearings are sticking or worn.

    Long range fuel tank

I have 21.5 litre on my 2009 and it was the best money spent so far. Can drive it without always thinking about gas stations.

    Whatcha Carrying?

When I travel, I carry a short whip that my Mexican friend Popeye gave me. Helped my wife and I out of a scary predicament at the Mexico/Guatemal border.

    Hesitation at steady highway speed.

While travelling in Mexico with a great bunch of bikers, I learned they have a name for people who never ride in the highway except for short runs to a bar or restaurant. They call them "Banqueteros" because they only dress up to go to banquets.

    Brake fluid return hole

I work on heavy equipment and if a machine dies and won't run, we sometimes use a grease gun with hydraulic oil in it to release the brakes so we can tow the machine back to the shop. You can get 5,000 psi if needed and surprisingly it will hold that pressure for quite a while. If it was me, I...

    Brake fluid return hole

If it is that bad, change the caliper. They are relatively cheap used and why bother.

Gen 2 Will They be Collectable

I remember hearing not riding your car/bike/whatever because you don't want to run up the mileage is the same as not having sex with your wife so she will be fresh for her next husband.

Let’s help this guy fix his bike

Check the temperature of the head of your exhaust pipes to verify similar temperatures among the four pipes. If 1 or more are low, you probably have a problem with the corresponding carb/spark. I did this previously and found 3 of 4 diaphragms had holes in them but can be used to trace other...

    2023 v max 1200

I have owned both generations, drove the first all around Canada, U.S.A. and Mexico. It was a great experience, drew a lot of attention and was a great bike but the 2nd Gen just fills in the blanks where the 1st Gen was lacking. More power, smoother riding, more reliable and just bigger and badder.

Odds for a Gen 3 Vmax?

If a new electric VMAX were to be made, they would probably put a high HP motor in it and an under-sized battery in it so you couldn't go more than 100-125 miles on a complete charge.

    Windshield.

I added a little tombstone-shaped extension on top of my Yamaha windshield and it makes a huge difference in rain and head buffeting. Small amount of money well spent.

    Fuel Pump Replacement Option?

I have a pump for sale and if not I have previously used a pump from a Honda CB1100.

Seventeens on mine. Were on when I bought it and found the handling suits me fine , a nice confident feeling to it and just getting better

1st Gen and 2nd Gen ; Yamaha made poor tire i wheel size choices in my mind. If there is a 3rd Gen, hopefully they would address that issue as well as the tiny fuel tanks. Like putting an 800hp engine in a Camaro or Challenger and only putting in a 5 gallon tank and 15 inch tires.
