New to VMAX and need some advise

Definitely not. All that **** sounds like a worst case of ripoff.

New to VMAX and need some advise

I'm in North San Antonio, TX. Ride over and I'll take a look over some day during weekend. I'll tell you what you will really need for the bike. Bring me a 12-pack of Modelo and call it even.

    Leaking oil

The oil is on the outside of the box. Obvious places to start is anything close to it. My bet would be valve cover gaskets. It could be a crankcase breather tube that got loose too. Intake manifold bolts are close too but they don't leak like that.

    Favorite music from your youth

My goal was to learn about music unknown to me. We all seems to have longer history than other forums. The obvious big bands are obvious, but I wanted to know what or which bands LOCAL to your home area made your heart race. Another one from me:

It has to be local to you. The more unknown the better. This is mine:

Cannot get flywheel off 85 Vmax

What my mentor told me when I was fifteen years old, "if you can't get it off, get a bigger hammer". Not always true but there is a point.

No brake pressure after changing brake pads (Problem solved)

I would use the finest Scotch-Brite on the bores to clean them out. Same on the pistons. No machines, by hand. I just don't think this is the problem. Johnnyredbone clearly stated that there was never any leaks, if I got it right. I'm just quessing here but what if there was an air bubble in...

    K&n

If you look at the formula itself, it does not contain a variable about push or pull. It is all about pressures, speeds and square areas. Increasing pressure at the throats of the box will yield better results marginally. I built a go kart for myself 15 years ago. I fitted a Suzuki V2 1000cc...

    K&n

It can be amplified but the carbs need to be up to par. That can be done too by introducing more air under the faux cover. When your engine is still naturally aspirated with carbs, you can actually modify the OEM scoops to bring air underneath the faux cover and make sure the tail section under...

    K&n

The throats of intake box passage square footages are significantly smaller than the surface area square footage straight down inside the box by a certain multiply = ram effect. High air speed becomes high pressure when it slows down, basic physics.

    K&n

I've got the OEM style K/N filter too. The original air box is actually a ram air but you can make it better.

Cross country routes and places suggestions

Well, if you come to the South you have to hit the Texas Hill Country. It is west of San Antonio and Austin. Lot's of great roads to enjoy

    FIRE under seat!

It looks like your Batt + touched the frame. The OEM rubber cover is there to prevent this from happening. The Batt + cable is really close to the frame and a road incident can bump the battery up and to the side.

    Sorry, my bad.

My 2nd Gen Is Having Carb Issues!

Well, your TPS is good. Next thing to check is fuel delivery, filter, correct system pressure. Another thing to check is air metering. Even if your ECU is not registering any codes then it doesn't mean everything is good. Erratic metering in EFI systems is a ****** to track down sometimes. I...

    Lights out

First thought, I'm assuming this is a gen 1. 2009 is right there on the edge. Now, whichever it is, couple of months should not matter. I've left my bike, a Gen 1 for many months on it's own and never had problems starting it up or having any kind of gremlins. The first thing is to figure out...

    1st Gen V-Max My 2001 VMax

But this topic is not about my stuff. Let's continue someplace else. FM, maybe you could move this last part about my bike to the thread where I originally introduced my bike. Would be more appropriate.

    1st Gen V-Max My 2001 VMax

The wheels are 18x5,5 inches in the back and 19x3,5 inches in the front. I made them myself so nobody else has the same set. Wanted to mimick Fatboy and Centerline Auto Drag.

    1st Gen V-Max My 2001 VMax

FM, you are right about the exhaust, it's a brainchild of mine and there is another equal silencer on the other side. My bike has very distinctive and different sound to other Vmax systems. The black piece is on the other side as well. This black piece is actually the original side cover that...

    Speedometer calibration

Damn, how stupid of me, Gen2 doesn't have analog speedo but electric. Sorry.
