Cannot rev past 6500 RPM under load

One month to rebuild carbs??? There's foul play there for sure. And your engine wasn't making noises before but had revving problems. What do you think happened there?

putting a holley 4 barrel on vmax

Starving one cylinder in a vee engine configuration is easy with single quad or dual quad. How do I know? I've designed and built sheet metal intake manifolds for various engines like HEMI, Chevy and Ford. Then dynoed them reading the exhaust temps and reading the plugs. I've built so many...

Question for those who have added forward controls

I'm 2 inches taller than you. I fabricated my on forwards. I also modified the seat. Sometimes my feet start to go numb if I ride too long but positioning them differently on the pegs help. Change your riding position every once in a while and you will be good.

    First bike

My point on Vmax being a good beginners bike is that it indeed is heavy and it has power. If the person hopping on has self control then handling a bike like ours teaches a lot to the person who's butt is attached. I entirely understand where you guys are coming from but my approach is...

We disagree, let's leave it at that. Different strokes, All there is to it.

    First bike

A Vmax is a great beginners bike, it goes as fast or as slow as you command it to go with a twist of your wrist. It is a great thing to have the power in reserve and not be stupid with it. That's a great way to learn.

putting a holley 4 barrel on vmax

What is the real point in scrapping individual carbs in favor of a single four barrel? None. The cylinder temps are not the same, therefore your rear cylinders are starving while you front ones are on point or vice versa. If you are not willing to learn the quirks of a 4 carb setup then dumbing...

Bad sounding engine. Big end gone?

Additionally to the topic, knocking sound from the 'bottom end', I had the same dilemma last year. My sound went away with the pull of a clutch. Took it apart, machined a new bearing for it with slightly tighter tolerances and left the grooves out. The grooves are there for '...

    Ignition box '85-'89

V85wick, I don't know exactly but if it is compatible to the bike and all you'd need to fab is mounts then why not. Mounts are easy to fab if you have the skills and equipment.

Bad sounding engine. Big end gone?

One thing you could check, when it makes that noise in idle, pull the clutch lever in and listen if the sound disappeared. If it did, your clutch basket bearing is worn out. Sounds exactly the same as conrods bearings.

Importing a Vmax into Texas from Europe

Bad quality in the picture. My bro's bike in it too. It was late yesterday night and dark already.

Importing a Vmax into Texas from Europe

First ride today in Texas Hill Country with my brother and with my bike. Turns out that when a bike is older than 25 years things are easy when importing it.
