Buying a 1st gen with mods. Need opinions on price.

Way too high. The first thing you're going to have to do is ditch those crap Cobra slip-ons he's got on there and get yourself a decent pair of slip-ons to replace them or put the factory exhaust back on it. Those things are absolute **** and castrate the Vmax's performance in a number of ways...

Would you buy this? Beauty is in the eye of the beholder...

It's actually 25.5 cubic feet exactly. Whoever did the hitch assembly is fantastic. That's some serious engineering. The major difference though is that your hitch is on the axel and swing arm, which is less than ideal. The Gold Wing mounts to the solid main frame proper and has no contact at...

A Goldwing is a bigger bike and also has purpose made trailers made specifically for it; they're HALF the size of the one he's pulling and still weighs over 200 pounds. https://openroadoutfitters.com/escapade-elite-2001-10-gold-wing/

I still think it is entirely too big. The Gen2 has about the same load capacity as a Gen1, around 450 pounds tops. If you weight 185 pounds and that trailer weighs around 200 pounds, which it clearly does, then you're already at near capacity for the bike before you even put anything in the...

That looks really big and really, really heavy.

Fuel Leak Part II - Completely stumped.

Got her back together, put the gas I drained out of it back in it, rode it about 30 miles until the warning light (low fuel) came on, went to Kroger gas station and put as much ethanol free gas in it as I could fit, rode the 4 miles home and parked it. Two hours later, just now, I took this...

Bike Fuelling Issue ?... or electrical when hot ?

My bike acted that way once right after the first time I changed the battery back in 2011. Turns out my ground cable was loose and was making intermittent contact with the battery, so I'd start losing power then get it back then loose it then get it back. Re-tightened it and that sorted it.

Fuel Leak Part II - Completely stumped.

Got the tank back. They did a good job. It wasn't leaking along the seam like I thought it was. It had 3 pin-holes just below where the fuel filter holder is. It was leaking down from there, then hitting the seam, then rolling down the seam to the corner and dropping down to the frame. You can...

What a painted mark on wheel mean?

At auction, numbers are put on the vehicle in question. Normally, they're lot numbers that the auction house uses to identify the vehicle. If that is a lot number, it must have been a really low rent auction house to have spray painted the tire like that. Normally on bikes they'll hang a small...

    Odyssey PC 680 Question

Good deal. That's what I'll do then.

Still waiting to get mine back from the radiator shop. Been cleaning out the inside of the frame and all and touching up some areas.

    Odyssey PC 680 Question

Just got my first PC 680 battery. The question: there's about 1/2 inch of space on either side of the battery when centered in the holder. Do you guys put some padding in there or do you find the strap holds it in place effectively? I was thinking of cutting up some of the padding it came in...

    My Vmax 1999

I can't help but think I've seen that bike before, or one that looks very much like it. Really sharp looking bike.

Motorycle For Sale SOLD - 1985 (1st year #444) Vmax For Sale New Pics/Video Link Price Drop $4000.00

My point was: at that price, it's not the bike for anybody. That's why you haven't sold it and never will at that high a price especially given that anybody can get a bike in better shape for over 1000 dollars less. https://www.ebay.com/b/Yamaha-V-Max/6024/bn_24009409...

    Dancing with Gigi… 38.88 MPG

That's amazing. I've never seen anybody get mileage like that. A buddy I rode with had an '85 that could get 105 pretty regularly and got 110 once or twice, but that's the most I've ever personally seen anybody get.

    Dancing with Gigi… 38.88 MPG

IT. IS. NOT. A. FACTORY. BIKE. It has a lower final drive, which means it runs at a lower RPM than a factory bike, which AUTOMATICALLY improves your gas mileage. And yes, it's the same thing as putting on a super charger as it increases the horsepower automatically over a factory engine...

    How Observant Are We?

You painted the manifold covers. They're supposed to be chrome. The engine from the factory isn't matte black, it's a metallic gray, so it's hard to tell but it looks like you painted the cylinders as well.
  18. Parminio

    Dancing with Gigi… 38.88 MPG

Correct. It's effectively a Venture as that is the gearing it's running on the final drive which gives it a huge advantage in fuel economy at cruising speed. It's like putting a supercharger on a car and comparing it to somebody else's factory car and trying to say its the same car for...

Then you're not riding a Vmax, so it doesn't count.
