Disconnect the fuel pump to run the carbs dry.

That is a sexy rear end on the max and cool inverted fork setup....

Disconnect the fuel pump to run the carbs dry.

Yesterday I tried a modified Shotgun to see if it was possible to clear out the pilot jets without having to pull the jet blocks.. I only used compressed air, no carb cleaner. I pulled everything out per the Shotgun procedure, plus each PAJ1. I did this to get max air flow. The diagram shows...

Think I found the fuel pump connector:

    Shotgun Carburetor Clean Results

The order of assembly is spring, washer, then o-ring.

Disconnect the fuel pump to run the carbs dry.

That was my question. How do I unplug the fuel pump? I don't store the bike as I'm in Southern California, but I have three other bikes (including a VMAX 1700) that I ride as well so the MiniMax gets a quarter of the use compared to past years. I've only used Berryman B-12 Chemtool...

Disconnect the fuel pump to run the carbs dry.

I know I can drain the carb bowls manually. I'm looking to put in a fuel pump cut off switch or even a quarter-turn stainless shut off valve on the fuel line. Had the carbs rebuilt in April 2023 by Dannymax, new fuel filter, tank is clean, fuel bowl draining is clean, but I've had to do the...

So how do you lift a Vmax by your self if you drop it...!@?

There are a few videos on how to lift a bike. Best one I've seen is to squat down with your butt backed up to the seat, knees bent at around 90 degrees. Grab the hand grip and anywhere you can grip the rear of the bike (a handhold) and lift with your legs as you push backwards into the seat...

What did you do to your Vmax today? Part 2

Thanks, I'll try the sides installed the next time I work on one of my rides.

What did you do to your Vmax today? Part 2

Good suggestions. I have a moving dolly I built with 3,000 pound casters (that's how they were listed...) and will be adding sides to hold the lift frame. The casters are OK in my garage but suck over the driveway surface. I'm going swap them out for some 5" locking wheels.

What did you do to your Vmax today? Part 2

Thanks FM. Much quicker and safer than the twin bar ATV/Motorcycle lift I've used for 20 years. I can drop it down onto a moving dolly under the center and re-position it easily. Also have a Drag Specialties wide scissor lift for tire changes and suspension work. I got the dolly idea here:

What did you do to your Vmax today? Part 2

You have the side extensions installed. I'm debating whether to put them on for the extra work surface during bike servicing or leave them off for better access to the bike. The Vmax will be parked on my lift when not being ridden, so it won't be used as an extra workbench. At 30", it's a bit...

What did you do to your Vmax today? Part 2

Got my Handy motorcycle lift greased and serviced. I acquired this last week, it was a freebie that was going to be tossed in a dumpster. Rebuilt the foot control valve and lubricated the air piston. Installed a temporary air hose whip until I get a factory-style hose with swivel fittings built...

What did you do to your Vmax today? Part 2

Pulled the carbs and cleaned the pilot jets, two were blocked (#2 and #3), #4 was partially blocked. Was able to remove each jet block one at a time time without splitting the rack assembly. Thanks to Dannymax for his help!

any cool low profile mirrors for the vmax???

How about not using mirrors as a primary method and going with a rear view camera? The display is in the center of your handlebars. Great for lane filtering. You can still leave a short stem mirror or mirrors in place as a back up or for vehicle code compliance...

    Reserve Fuel switching

As MaxMidnight said, check the bulb first. My 1997 was running out of fuel at 75 miles on the odometer with no low fuel light, but I would see the light illuminate during start up. It ended up being a broken solder joint on the fuel sensor (see the arrow in the picture). The sensor assembly...
