It's the 3 speed manual shift on the fly, no clutch. He picked up on it easily. A perfect learning bike.

Got my son a Yamaha PW80 for his 8th birthday. It's his new pride and joy. Think he might have more miles in the back yard than mine! That thing is awesome for him! His favorite part is parking it next to the Max.......so proud. ....lol:scooter 1:

Today, I cruised around for about 10-15 miles adjusting the damper levels on my new Progressive shocks to feel the differences. Think I have my comfort zone dialed in. Then it got a bath and waxing. Not too many riding days left...

I did both. My Yamaha mechanic lowered it after swapping the springs with the Furber. It just felt a tad front heavy. These should perfect it for me now.

Purchased a set of the 412 series Progressive HD shocks to lower the rear end an inch and level out the bike since the front end had the Furber Fix done on the front years ago. They look decent. Gonna test run it tomorrow.

2nd gear is known to go bad in the older maxes. Mine went at 26k. I used to skip 2nd gear when putting around when it did it 1 out of 5 times. Unfortunately, you have to pull the motor and get it replaced. I replaced the shift cam, shift fork, mating gear and gears 1 thru 4 while it was apart...

The 'ole Max finally emerged from the back of the garage. Quick wipe down and it fired right up. Purrs like kitten. Not bad since the last rpm was 6 months ago! Took a 5 mile cruise around the neighborhood. Just need a tire and oil change and I'm ready for the season!

I wouldn't be able to get mine out of the garage! Enjoy gents....... I gotta few more months to go. Grrr......
